Production Manager
Purpose of Position:
To drive superior performance within the Value Stream and achieve its full
potential and improve the performance of the business and its profitability. This is to be achieved
through diligent efforts in developing people and processes in a Continuous Improvement inspired
environment. Allowing continuous pushing of boundaries and creating an environment where
perfection is aspired to and everyday problems lead to everyday innovation.

leadership, Group HR Manager, Quality Department, & Manufacturing

External: As directed/required
Budget Responsibility: Operating expenses 0 - 2 million
Direct Reports: 0-5 depending on value stream (supervisors)
Indirect Reports: up to 50+ depending on value stream (Team Leaders, Production & Stores Team

To improve and sustain the 6s (sort, shine, set, standardize, sustain, safety)
principle within your area of responsibility.
Annual plan execution – not only uses annual plans but encourages supervisors
to complete their plans / objectives.
Challenges the current way of working to make improvements as per Kaizen
principles of continuous improvement.
Maintains standard methods and systems which are documented and followed.
Encourages others to be self-critical and be innovative in finding solutions or
improvements.
Provides the resources to allow subordinates to implement improvements
Implement process improvement in line with the Value Stream future state map.
GEMBA walk – being out amongst your team, seeing the actual process to better
understand the work and effectively coach.
Ensure that processes needed for the quality management system (ISO) are
established, implemented and maintained.
Ensure that quality is built into processes by working collaboratively with the
Gallagher Production Systems department.

Drive a sustainable quality focused culture using continuous improvement
methodology.
Take ownership of and facilitate problem solving and countermeasures of quality
issues relevant to your department. When cross departmental escalate to
quality.
Checking validity of the Engineering Change Notes (ECN) being submitted that
have a direct impact on the Value Stream.
Manage operating expenses in line with agreed annual budgets and present noncompliance to reporting manager on a monthly basis using balanced scorecard.
Continual improvement in working capital performance for areas of
responsibility.
Ensure high levels of throughput and standard time performance
Achieve/monitor performance on a daily, weekly, monthly basis based on annual
KPI objectives.
Provide department performance results on a daily basis into the daily Value
Stream shift meeting.
Maintain and suggest improvements to the controls necessary to achieve the
production standards.
Develops plans based on facts and analysis by clarifying the problem, setting
targets, analyzing the root cause and devising innovative countermeasures.
Collects data to make good decisions for the area of responsibility
Deals with facts, investigates and provides guidance to staff
Provides an inclusive and consultative style to gain input and commitment to the
plan.
Is an advocate for their area within the objectives of the organization
Takes Action, monitors progress
Promotes healthy and safe work practices and continuous improvement of the
working environment.
Regularly audit to ensure that health and safety policies are being adhered to
and if not put corrective actions in place.
Create a culture of behavioral safety and wellness across the group
Employee involvement in the Health and Safety management is encouraged and
demonstrated by elected worker representation and regular staff meetings that
discuss H&S.
A systematic hazard identification process is followed and documented where all
employees are encouraged to raise all safety concerns and dealt with
appropriately.
Ensures compliance with all aspects of the Health and Safety in Employment Act
Accident recording and investigation is conducted as per group procedure
Rehabilitation from a work or non-work injury is conducted as per group policy
Reviews work practices to ensure compliance with H & S regulations and ensure
on-going training is provided to relevant staff.

Recruitment and onboarding of new staff as and when required, following
agreed recruitment processes.
Timely, unbiased performance management of staff, keeping accurate records as
and when required, in conjunction with Group HR Manager, ensuring accurate
records are maintained.
Including any other duties not specified that may be required to complete the role, and as requested
by the Reporting Manager.

Qualifications Required:
• Tertiary qualification in engineering or an associated discipline an advantage
• Competitive manufacturing qualifications or experience e.g. Lean/Six Sigma
Experience Required:

5-10 years of practical experience working in a lean manufacturing environment
