ROLE
Check In Attendants
DESCRIPTION
The Check In Attendants main role is to facilitate the collection of entrant race kits. Check in
Attendants will need to be confident on a computer.
Tasks;
 Use a computer and the Gold Coast Marathon check in system to search for an
entrant and access their entry details
 Provide the entrant with their Race Kit – including their Race Bib, Race Bag and
any required wristbands
 Work with the Kit Collection Attendants to find entrant race numbers in the bib
storage racks and present to entrant
 Where an entrant does not have an assigned bib, select and assign the correct
race bib for the entrant
 Assist and direct entrants with basic registration questions/problems where
required
 Direct entrants with problems to the help desk

The role of a Kit Collection Attendant is to work with a Check in Attendant to facilitate the
collection of entrant race kits. Kit Collection attendants are responsible for retrieving the
entrant’s race number from the bib storage racks.
Tasks;
 Collection of Entrant Race Bibs from Bib Racks
 Bib Racks are sorted by Race type and Bibs are sorted by Race Number.
 Please note that this role requires you to be on your feet for the duration of your
shift
Help Desk Attendant The Help Desk Attendant is required to help Entrants process any changes required to their
race registration and facilitate the collection of entrant race kits.
Help Desk attendants will need to be confident on a computer and pre-training will be
required.
Tasks;
 Process entrant changes to registrations and process new entries including:
 Upgrades (payment will be required)
 Downgrades
 Transfers
 Late Entries with Cash Payment
 Cash Handling and Credit Card Transactions
 Quick and confident typing skills, copying from paper entries to complete
registration changes
 Provide the entrant with their Race Kit – including their Race Bib, Race Bag and any

The role of the late entry attendant is to help entrants process their late entry and direct them
to the correct queue to collect their race kit once completed.
Tasks;
 Help Entrants to complete the late entry form utilising our iPad Late Entry Station
or Onsite Form
 Help entrants access the late entry form via their mobile if required
 Direct entrants to the correct queue to collect their race kit once their entry is
completed
 Assist and direct entrants with basic registration questions/problems where
required
The role of a Timing Device Attendant is to check all competitors timing devices to ensure
that they are operational. This is a high paced job as there is a lot of traffic through this
area.
Tasks;
 Check competitors race numbers using the scanner and software
 Assist competitors with enquiries or problems with the process
 Fix race label related problems for competitors using the registration system
 Assist and direct competitors with basic registration questions/problems where
required
The role of Usher/ Meet and Greet is to welcome participants and spectators into the Expo
and give them any relevant directions. There are a large number of people that come through
the doors and it is an important task to ensure that their registration process runs smoothly.
Tasks;
 Welcome competitors to Registration Centre
 Assist with directing competitors to the specific check-in area relating to their
entry
 Assist and direct competitors with basic registration questions/problems where
required
The stock controller works behind the scenes at the registration centre and is tasked with
refilling each registration desk with bags, hats and wristbands.
This role is to assist the Operations Department to provide participants and the general
public with up-to-date, accurate and useful information regarding the event at the Event
Information Booth. Training Required Prior
Tasks;
 Assist competitors and general public with event specific questions
 Assist competitors and general public with questions regarding shuttle bus service
and local public transport
 Assist competitors and general public with questions regarding course maps and
details, general event details, lost property procedures, lost child procedures and
Gold Coast tourist information
Working in pairs, the Good Times volunteers will be based in the good times booth to create
excitement and assist entrants with taking photos with the trophy. Volunteers must be
energetic and outgoing.
