O Active learning is based on a theory of
learning called constructivism, which
emphasizes the fact that learners
construct or build their own
understanding.

What is Active Learning?
O Active learning is a process whereby students
engage in activities that promote analysis,
synthesis, and evaluation of class content.
O Students participate in the process and are doing
something besides passively listening.
O Anything that involves students in doing things and
thinking about the things they are doing.
