TheTeeBallDivisionisforinstructionandfun–notforcompetition.Thereareno
umpires,noscoresandnotstandings.Thefocusisonhavingfunwhilelearning

GeneralPlayingRules
1) FieldSet-Up-Thehometeamshallberesponsibleforsettingupthefieldasfollows;
a) AnadjustableTeewillbeused.
b) A10’arcfromhomeplateshallbemarked.
c) The‘pitchingrubber’locationshallbe30’fromhomeplate(marked/usedforpositioningonly).
d) Basesare45feetapart.(63’7”fromHomePlateto2ndBase)
e) Adouble‘safetybase’(white/orange)mustbeusedat1stbaseforallgames.
2) BallSize–Theballsizeis11inches(softcover).
3) Coaches–Thecoachoftheteamatbatshallassistinsettinguptheball/teeforeachbatterand
shallnotinterferewitha‘live’ballatanytime.Coachesareallowedonthefieldofplaytomaintain
positionsandattentionoftheplayers.
4) Helmets-Battinghelmetsmusthavechinstraps,whichshallbewornproperlyunderthechin.
Playersplayingthepositionsofthepitcher,catcherand1stbasemustwearabattinghelmet.

5) Jewelry-Exposedjewelrysuchaswristwatches,bracelets,anytypeofearrings,neckchains,orany
otheritemjudgeddangerousbythecoaches,maynotbewornduringthegame.Medicalalert
braceletsornecklacesarenotconsideredjewelry.
6) ElectronicDevices–Playersarenotpermittedtousecellphones,iPodsorotherelectronicdevices
onthebenchordiamondoncethegamehasstarted.
7) Uniforms-Allplayersmustwearidenticalshirtsandpants/shorts–theofficialBASAuniform
distributedatthebeginningoftheseason.CoachesmustwearaBASA-issuedshirt.
8) GameTime–Allregularseasongamesshallbeplayedinaccordancewiththefollowing;
a) Gamesshallstartpromptlyatthescheduledtime.
b) Nonewinningcanbestartedafter50minutesfromstartofgame.
c) ‘DeadBall’willbeat1hourfromthestartofthegame.
9) GameRoster
a) Teamsmusthaveaminimumoffive(5)playersbygametime.
b) Thereisnomaximumnumberofdefensiveplayers.
c) Allplayersinattendanceatthegamewillbat.
10) PlayerPositions
a) Aplayercannotplaythesamepositionintwoconsecutiveinnings.
b) DefensiveteamsshalluseaPitcher,Catcher,4infieldersandoutfielders(nomaximum).
c) ThePitchershallstandnocloserthan30’fromhomeplate.
d) TheCatchershallbepositionedbehindhomeplateinasafelocation.
e) Allinfieldersmuststaybehindthebaselineuntiltheballishit.
f) Alloutfieldersmuststaybehindtheinfield(i.e.onthegrass).
11) Injuries
a) Acourtesyrunnerwillbepermittedatfirstbase.
b) Ifaplayerisinjuredwhilerunningthebases,acourtesyrunnerwillbepermittedatthelastbase
reachedsafely.
c) Thecourtesyrunneristhelastpersonout.
12) Batting
a) AninningwillbeoveronceALLplayershavebatted.
b) Allhittersmustputtheballintoplay.
c) Anyhitballthatdoesnottravelmorethan10’fromhomeplateshallbedeemedafoulball.
13) FirstBase–Battersrunningtofirstbasemusttouchtheorangebag.
14) FoulBallOut–Mustbehitabovethebatters’headandcaughttobeconsideredanout.

15) StealingBases-Thereisnostealingallowed.Arunnermayonlyadvancewhenthebattermakes
contact.
16) LeadingOff-Arunnercannotleavehis/herbaseuntilthepitchedballisputintoplay(i.e.hit).
17) AdvancingRunners
a) Baserunnersmustonlyadvanceonebaseatatimeexceptforthelasthitterinaninning–this
batterispermittedtoadvancetoasmanybasesaspossible.
b) Followingafairlyhitball,theadvancingofrunnersisconsideredoverwhentheballisreturned
toaplayer’spossessionintheinfield(insidethebasepaths).Runnersmaycontinuetothebase
theyareheadingtobutthefieldersmayattempttothrow/tagtherunnerout.
c) LastBatter-Aninningisoveroncetheballisreturnedtothecatcherandhe/shetoucheshome
plate.
18) Overthrows-Whentheballisinplayandoverthrownbeyondtheplayingareaboundaries,all
runnersareawarded1basefromtheirlastlegallyheldbaseatthetimetheballwasthrown.
19) InclementWeather-Thecoacheswillimmediatelysuspendthegameifhe/shehearsthunder
within30secondsofseeingalightningflash.Thegamewillnotresumeuntil30minuteshavepassed
withnolightningfollowedbythunderwithin30seconds.
