----------------------- Q
& A --------------------------
Q: What are the different surround and stereo modes for the LS40?
A: Pressing the EQ button on the headset will toggle through various EQ/Surround/Stereo modes. Each press of the button
will be accompanied by a voice prompt indicating the mode in use.
If the source audio is 5.1/7.1, the following modes are available:
●
●
●
Gaming Surround - This is the default surround mode with a room model and EQ settings that LucidSound believes
are ideal for gaming.
Boosted Surround - This mode has the highs and low frequencies boosted. This mode also features a more
traditional surround sound room model and can be used for gaming, movies, and music.
Stereo - Stereo mode downmixes the surround sound content to two channel stereo using the default EQ settings
and bypasses DTS processing.
If the source audio is two channel stereo:
●
●
●
Super Stereo Wide - This mode expands two channel stereo using a room model that places the speakers a wide
distance apart.
Super Stereo Front - This room model places the two channel audio in front of the listener just as it would be
listening to standard stereo speakers.
Stereo - This mode bypasses all DTS processing and outputs the audio directly.
Q: What do I need to in order to use chat on the Xbox One?
A: Compatibility with Xbox One requires that you have either the new controller with a 3.5mm headphone jack built in, or the
Microsoft Stereo Headset Adapter. You will connect the Xbox One 3.5mm chat cable to the controller or Stereo Headset
Adapter for chat audio.
Q: Why do I still hear game audio when I turn the game volume to minimum on the Xbox One?
A: The new Xbox One controller with the built in 3.5mm jack can detect if a chat headset or stereo headset is connected to it. If
the LS40 is connected to the controller before the headset is turned on or if the headset is already connected but the controller
is turned on first, the controller will detect a stereo headset and output game and chat audio. This can be resolved by making
sure the headset is powered on first or by disconnecting and reconnecting the 3.5mm cable to the controller while the headset
is powered on. The controller will then see the headset as chat only and only output chat audio (the game audio is sent
wirelessly from the base unit).
If you’re using the Stereo Headset Adapter, simply make sure that the chat volume is turned up to maximum and the game
volume is turned down to minimum on the Adapter.
Q: Why am I not hearing any audio from the headset?
A: If everything is connected correctly, the most common reason for not hearing any audio is that the headset is muted. To
toggle the game audio mute, press in the mute button on the left earcup. If you still have an issue, try unplugging the USB
base station and plugging it back in.
Q: How do I get Surround Sound on the PC?
A: In order to use DTS Headphone:X surround sound, the optical cable must be used with the PC. In order to get surround
sound with gaming, the PC sound card must support Dolby Live and be set to output a Dolby Digital bitstream. You can use
the LS40 without the optical cable, but the audio will be limited to stereo only.
Q: I’m using this with my iPhone and there’s a weird clicking noise and the audio cuts out.
A: The LS40 is only compatible with mobile devices when in passive mode. Make sure that the headset is powered off when
connecting to mobile devices with the 3.5mm cable. When the headset is powered off, the volume and mic mute controls will
not function, but you can use the left earcup button to control music playback or answer calls. You will also be able to use the
microphone (either boom or internal) for phone calls.
