12U, 13U, and 14U Travel Ball Teams
Participants: Teams cover all of their expenses through payments to Westview Youth Baseball
(WYB), KOR PT, and The Yard Baseball Academy. Total cost is estimated around $1850 for the
14U and 13U teams and $1450 for the 12U team. Players will pay $350 to WYB online in
registration (www.westviewyouthbaseball.com) immediately after being selected to the team.
The team fee will vary depending on tournament costs and amount of travel as team schedule
will not be identical. There will be fundraising opportunities to offset a percentage of the costs.
The remaining payment schedule will be communicated to the players who make each roster.
Team Formation: Teams will be formed by an open and comprehensive tryout conducted by
the professional coaches. There is a $20 tryout fee that will be paid by check or cash to WYB
at the time of tryouts.
Tryouts will occur November 5th and 6th at Indoor Goals. Each team will consist of a 12 player
roster selected and lead by a professional coach. The age groups are based upon their
tournament ages based upon the May 1st deadline. Playing age is the players age on or before
May 1st of that calendar year.
Team Management: Each team will have a professional coach and 2-3 parent coaches on staff.
One parent coach will act as general manager to coordinate the schedule for the team by
arranging games, selecting tournaments, and collecting money from parents to pay for team
events. Parent coaches will be used to keep the cost down by not requiring more than one paid
coach and to reduce the overall time burden of professional paid coach.
Team Practice, Games and Tournaments:
The 13U and 14U teams will target playing 12-13 tournaments in the NW Region, and the 12 U
team 9-10 tournaments. Teams will also play some midweek games against Portland area teams.
13U/14U teams will play an estimated 65-70 games, practice begin Mid-January and games will
run late February to late July. The 12U team will play 50-55 games and begin practice in MidFebruary and games March 18th to the end of the first week in August.
