Introduction
The importance of leadership in the organizational functioning is key factor for its success.
Presently they are many challenges in organization functioning as the business complexities are
too demanding that manager had to take up the leadership position for taking the organization to
next level. As the present day managers needs to have dual role of managing the business
resources by performing management functions like planning, organizing, coordinating,
motivating , controlling and the important function is leading the organization by making it
most successful enterprise by achieving all the goals and objectives.
Presently much organization is headed by the manager which is also work as a leader also for
proper functioning of all the departments by utilizing all the resources effectively and efficiently.
With increasing complexities in the business nature the importunacy of leadership qualities are
more significant than in early days. So today manager had to be a leader for making the
organization successful.
Leadership in Organization focus on optimizing the employee’s performances, effective
utilization of resources, motivating and development of corporate culture is the few qualities
need to run the organization successfully
Leadership Qualities:
The leader in the organization at the top management level had played very important role for
not only managing the business but also keeping the employee morale high by giving them pride
and purpose to serve the organizational goals for long period of time by achieving both personal
and corporate goals. Being a good leader, once need lead as an example by coming out
successful in all testing condition by inspiring confidence and dedication. And in return
employees raise the job performance level to achieve the inspirational goals for the organization.
Leaders are having charming personality with clear vision and intense confidence for taking
the organizational to growth path by sheer enthusiasm and courage. And so many times with his
efforts makes even average employee turn up to become great contributor for company goals and
objectives. As the leader, he can communicate clearly across all the departments about the
objectives and goals defined for each department and division of the company for effective
implementation of corporate policies. A good leader-cum-manager develops his team by right
kind of people with high motivation and positive mind set and channelize their efforts for
achieving the goals and objectives.
Being the effective leader there must be having some qualities like
Openness means before taking any decision take into consideration all the aspects of matter and
listen carefully all the relevant facts and figures before taking any decision. A good leader can
postpones the decision or make quick decision or finding a new idea to get the things done in the
best interest of the organizations by building mutual trust and respect among all the parties. .
Creativity in the leaders is the distinct positive things that make leaders to think differently or out
of box thinking to get the best solution for any given problem.
A sense of humor is very basic quality that all leaders must possess as there is always so
negativities prevail in the work culture and present in the human being itself, so the leader with
sense of humor make the positive way to present by bringing the good quality in the employee
for better job performances
Keenness in leaders to make sure that the job had been completed on time with optimization of
all the resources for speedy achieving the organization goals and objectives. Leaders himself set
the example by performing the duties exemplary well that set the example for other to follow.
Fairness is essential quality to be present in the leader while dealing with fairly. And a leader
will check all the relevant facts from all the sources before taking the final decision and finally it
became correct in the long term basis.
Honesty is the key for making followers to feel about the words utter by the leader so that they
can make the positive influence inside and outside of the organization. The trust factor plays a
very important role while mixing of outward actions and inner values. A person with honesty
value can create the sense of honesty in their approach that ultimately benefits the organization.
Leadership Styles
Autocratic Style: Authoritarian
This is the famous style of leadership where the leader decided the what, when, how and where
to do the things and everybody need to follow his advice and direction for functioning of the
organization. But in this type of leadership people view and opinion had little impact in the
decision making process which can be detrimental for the organization functioning.
Example: Microsoft company management followed these types of leadership ship style in their
top management by applying authoritarian style by demanding top employees performance for
achieving the aggressive sales and business growth figures to stay ahead in the competition.
Democratic Style: Let’s work together
This is of leadership style where more than one person involves in the decision making process
by taking into consideration of more than one view by analyzing all the facts and figures together
for organization functioning. Participative leadership has strong belief that the all employees will
give their best for achieving the organizational objectives. Example: The Donald Trump
follow this style of leadership by eccentric decision making that best suit the business needs and
the leader pick up their team and delegates all the values and skills that makes the successful
organistion by reaching top position in industry.
Delegative (Free Style) leadership: Take collective responsibility
This leadership style had given free choice to make informative decision while the leader still
responsible for the outcome and later all positive or negative impact on business. However this
style will bring the sense of ownership in the employees where they can feel themselves as the
part of the company and its success.
Eg: Douglas MacArthur is the main example of this style of leadership where he build the team
with immense responsibility and finally given free hand that results in all correct decision
making process with all values intact
Bureaucratic: This style of leadership had taken the impact with all the kind factors taken in to
consideration which ultimately delay the process that so many times leads to negative impact in
the business functioning.
Eg: Government department functioning
Conclusion
.The above info about the leadership and its style had direct impact on the organization
functioning. The six style of leadership operates in present day companies with varied results.
Leadership’s style need to be understanding, relevant and increase the confidence in the
employees by creating the professional environment in the work place where they feel less stress
and improved efficiency. Present day organization needs a democratic style of leadership where
the leader should have a vision and clearly define path to achieve both individual and collective
goals while working for the organization success. Leaders should have optimistic view, visionary
and enterprising that can easily take the organization performance to next level.
All leaders need to have vision, creative and ambitious with high energy level performance that
eminent in the working style, strong communication power and top judgmental ability. With this
they can inspire all the employees for giving their best in their job assignments, with clear
mission and objectives to ensure that all the company resources had been used effectively and
efficiently.
