Take a look at the calendar of unusual customs and traditions in England,
Scotland and Wales.
1. Before you pick one of the months and find out more about strange British
traditions, get together in pairs and take a good look at the presented
pictures. Think about what kind of tradition could be hidden behind this
picture. Write down your thoughts and discuss them with your partner.
2. Each partner picks one month and, as there are more traditions portrayed
every month, choose one of them.
a. Write down as much information as you can about this tradition. You might
also want to use an Internet search engine to find out more.
b. Now present your chosen tradition to your partner.
3. Think about traditions and festivities which are typical for Austria or just a
part of Austria and which might seem unusual or funny to somebody from
another country.
a. Choose one and present your thoughts and findings to your partner. But
don’t mention the name of your tradition. Let him/her guess.
