SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP AND GRANTS PROGRAM
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. What are the objectives of the program?
The program has two components: the UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP and the
ARCHDIOCESE OF SAN FERNANDO (ASF) GRANT.
The UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP is in fulfillment of the mandate of the University of
the Assumption to provide quality education to qualified but financially challenged
students and in recognition of the outstanding academic performance in Junior High
School of incoming Grade 11 students.
The ASF GRANT is given by the Archdiocese of San Fernando (ASF) in partnership with
the University of the Assumption, in response to in support of the Philippine government’s
advocacy on “education for all”.
2. Who can avail of the UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP and ASF GRANT?
The UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP is awarded to the TOP 10 graduates of the UA
Junior High School and the TOP 1 and TOP 2 from other private and public schools.
The ASF GRANT is given to qualified students on the basis of their financial needs,
intellectual ability and proven consistent academic performance.
3. What are the benefits of the UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP?
The UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARS will receive the following based on their academic
standing:
TOP 1
100% discount on tuition, miscellaneous and other fees
plus book subsidy of P5,000 per year
TOP 2
75% discount on tuition, miscellaneous and other fees
RANKS 3 - 10 FROM UAJHS 50% discount on tuition, miscellaneous and other fees
If the scholar is entitled to DepEd voucher, the entire amount of the voucher or the
corresponding balance after deducting the amount due after discount is refunded through
check named to the parent/guardian and student.

4. What are the benefits of the ASF GRANT?
Depending on the financial capability of the grantee, the grants are 50% or 100% of the
fees after deducting the value of the DepEd voucher.
For grantees from non-ESC private schools, the amount equivalent to the value of the
DepEd voucher will be added to the amount due for payment.
5. Is there a term for the validity of the UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP and ASF
GRANT?
The UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP and ASF GRANT are subject to review every year by
the Registrar based on the following:
 UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP: General Average of 88% with a grade not lower
than 85% in any subject in the previous school year.
 ASF GRANT: No failing grade in any subject in the previous school year.
Scholars and grantees must submit their grades to the Scholarship Committee at the Office
of the Student Affairs at the 2nd floor of the Aniceto Building within one (1) week after the
issuance of grades.
6. How does one apply for the UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP and ASF GRANT?
There is no need to apply for the UASHS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP. All top ten graduates
of UAJHS and valedictorians and salutatorians of other private and public schools should
submit only a Certification from the Principal of the junior high school where he or she
came from that he graduated as top 1 or top 2 or ranks 3 to 10 (for UAJHS graduates).
For the ASF GRANT, due to limited slots available, it will be granted to qualified students
on a first-come-first-served basis. Deadline for application is on December 1, 2015.
To apply for the ASF Grand, the procedure is as follows:
a. Download the ASF GRANT Application form from www.ua.edu.ph or get a copy
from the UA Office of the Student Affairs (UAOSA) at Room 201 on the second floor
of the Aniceto Building.
b. Fill up the ASF GRANT Application form legibly and accurately.
c. Submit the accomplished ASF GRANT Application form to the UAOSA together with
the following:
i. Parent’s personal letter describing the family’s situation and the need for
financial assistance in Filipino, Kapampangan or English.

ii. For each presently employed parent and/or guardian of applicant, submit
any one of the following:
 Photo copy of pay slips for the last 3 months
 Latest annual income tax return
 Certificate of tax exemption
 Certificate of indigence from the barangay
iii. Photocopy of electric bill for the last 2 months.
iv. Sketch from barangay hall to residence and clear photo of permanent
residence with FULL VIEW of the façade of the house.
7. How do the applicants learn of the result of his or her application?
The applicants, qualified or not qualified, will be informed via SMS or email. They may
also inquire from the Office of the Student Affairs within one month after the deadline for
application. List of those who qualified will be posted on the website and fb page.
8. Is there a separate examination for those applying for the ASF GRANT?
No. There is no separate examination for the ASF GRANT.
9. Can students with brothers or sisters who are current beneficiaries of other
scholarship and grant programs of the University of the Assumption apply for the
ASF GRANT?
YES
10. If an academic scholar failed to meet the requirements to retain his or her
scholarship in Grade 11, can he/she apply for ASF Grant in Grade 12?
YES. They can apply following the required procedures.
11. If a student did not qualify for the ASF Grant in Grade 11, can he or she apply
again in Grade 12?
YES.
