UNDERSTANDING COMPLEX REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME Arthritis and Osteoporosis Victoria cordially invites you to register for the second webinar in our 2015 ‘Musculoskeletal Health’ webinar series which is titled 'Understanding Complex Regional Pain Syndrome'. Date: Monday, 20th April 2015 Time: 7pm - 8pm AEST Target Audience: Health professionals of various disciplines across the musculoskeletal health and other sectors. About the Presentation: Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) can be difficult to understand and treat effectively. Recently, much of the research into CRPS has turned to the role of the brain in this disorder. The spread of signs and symptoms from the initial site of an injury to other body areas, together with the presence of intriguing perceptual disturbances such as reduced tactile acuity and perception of a larger limb, point towards central mechanisms playing a key role. During this webinar, Flavia will discuss the latest evidence from neuro-imaging and explore the concept of ‘neuroplasticity’ in pain. Anne will then present an acute treatment plan and a longer term management paradigm, informed by both the evidence and clinical experience with patients with both acute and chronic CRPS and other persistent pain states.
