Grading is complete and Training will begin soon (for some it
already has).
Our new website is up and running at www.ballajuraafc.com so
take some time to familiarize yourself with it as it could be a big
help in the season to come.
Message from the President…
Welcome to the 2014 season and the first edition of our
Newsletter for 2014.
It has been a busy time for the committee who have been working
hard as always.
Straight after the end of the 2013 season we started our Seven a
Side seniors Night Competition and we had busy Thursday nights
up to just before Xmas. Congratulations to our own Brendan
Divilly and the boys from “Frank n Furt” on winning the Final
and we look forward to a bigger and better competition later this
year.
As mentioned above the Committee was also busy in the summer
with two sausage sizzles at Bunnings Malaga held to raise funds
to kick-start our year.
Ballajura AFC is on
Facebook. Check out
events, stories and
photos.
The number of Junior Players Registrations is up once again and
we will be seeing over 200 juniors wearing the BAFC colours for
2014 season. Many thanks to those who registered on-line
through the MyFootballClub system. We hope this will become
the norm for future seasons and I suggest all have a look at the
website, it has a lot of useful information for players, parents and
coaches.
Please read your Newsletter and send any ideas for segments or
any comments/feedback to [email protected]

Team News
SUNDAY LEAGUE (AMATEUR MEN)
For the first time in a number of years the club has been able to re-appoint last season’s
coaches with Les Lodge and David Haddock working towards making the season a
success once again.
Amongst many exciting encounters expected this season is one that is eagerly awaited. La
Fiamma is in the same division for the first time in eight or more seasons and the players
look forward to travelling to Geraldton (Yes, really, Geraldton) to take them on.
The boys have played two friendlies, vs Beechboro W.E. and North Beach, with the
Reserves winning both and the First Team drawing once and winning once, though the
draw was abandoned at half-time due to bad light.
Up coming friendly Fixtures are:
9th March, Away Vs Caversham (Rosher Park, Lockridge)
16th March, Home Vs Floreat
(kick-off tbc)
rd
23 March, Away Vs Bassendean (Jubilee Reserve, Eden Hill)
28th March, Home Vs Beechboro W.E. at 6 and 8pm

WOMEN’S LEAGUE
The Club is hoping to have a Women’s Team this year. At the moment we are struggling
to get enough players and any interested girls or women – minimum age is 15 this season
- should contact the club or Coach Chelsea Whitham for information about training.
MASTERS
Last season the club was blessed with the presence of an outstanding Masters team. This
side surprised many people and finished third in their league. With Top goalscorer David
Shephard forced to retire due to injury the team has some big boots to fill if they are to do
as well or even better this coming season. Players aged 35 or over are welcome to come
and join the team for training on Thursday Nights at 7pm.
YOUTH LEAGUE
Last season was an entertaining one for the 18s who began poorly before putting together
a great series of results to get into the Finals Series. Congratulations to the players and
coaches on this result.
Unfortunately the club is not fielding an 18s squad this season due to lack of numbers.
Hopefully this will change next season.
JUNIOR LEAGUES
2013 was an impressive season for our Junior League teams with 3 winning their Top 4
cups. Congratulations to the players and coaches of 2013s 12s, 14s and 15b teams.
The club has been fortunate to have a growth in its Junior Leagues this season. Last
season we had two teams in each of the 12s, 13s and 15s with no 16s. This season we
have two teams in 13s, 14s, 15s and 16s. This has made organization more difficult and
the committee is working hard to make everything run as smoothly as possible.
Volunteer Coaches are asked to attend a Coaches Night on Wednesday 12th of March at
7pm in the Clubrooms to collect equipment and meet others who may be of assistance
during the season.
MINIROOS
The Competition formerly known as OSSF was rebranded this season as Miniroos. This
covers all teams that do not play on a full-size pitch and all ages 6-11.
Volunteer Coaches are asked to attend a Coaches Night on Wednesday 5th of March at
7pm in the Clubrooms to collect equipment and meet others who may be of assistance
during the season.

We hope to bring you Team News in each edition of our Newsletter and E-Zine and look
forward to features and news from all Junior League and Miniroo teams. Contributions
from Coaches, players and parents are invited.

Committee News
The club is run for the members by members. A club of this size requires either a sizable
committee or some members to over-work themselves. As we have only 7 committee
members this over-work causes some people to burnout. This burnout can only have a
negative effect on the running of the club. While it is appreciated that not everybody can
contribute as much time as some of the committee do, every little contribution helps. If
you have some ideas on how your club could run better or just want to know what is
happening in your club please contact Mike for the time and date of the next committee
meeting.
A special mention to Teresa Moncaster and Del Batey who have made important
contributions since joining the committee last season and at the beginning of this season
respectively. Without you the work load on other members would be significantly
increased.
