ILM Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills Additional Information and Application Form 1 Introduction This award is designed for those who are in or are aspiring to a first leadership or management role. With a focus on the core areas of effective team leadership the programme helps participants to meet the challenges of a team leader role. The programme is flexible and pragmatic and designed to meet the needs of a range of participants engaged in or aspiring to leadership roles across the university. Objectives The Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills has two core objectives: • to assist participants in gaining the basic knowledge required by a team leader • to develop the skills that contribute to effective team leadership. Content and Method of Delivery The four areas explored within the programme: • Developing as a Leader • Workplace Communication • Leading Change • Dealing with Conflict The programme is delivered in a series of workshops, with a short half-day introduction. The workshops are highly participative and include a variety of learning methods such as discussion, team activities, case studies, and small group work. Wherever possible the workshops will include real work situations. Outcomes Participating in the programme will provide enhanced understanding and skills related to key aspects of leading a team resulting in improved team leadership performance. Improvements should be evident through: Improved team leadership / management Improved team performance Enhanced ability to react to change, both self and the team Improved interpersonal skills Confidence in dealing with conflict situations More effective communication and feedback for self and others Programme Assessment In order to achieve the ILM Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills participants must: 1. Attend the introduction session and all the course workshops and tutorials 2. Participate successfully in all group activities 3. Submit responses to the Short Answer Questions for each of the programme sessions to a standard set by the given criteria 4. Maintain a learning diary/action plan. Participants require a minimum of 3 credits to receive the Level 2 Award in Leadership and Team Skills.
