Assumption’s 4pm Mass on Saturday is being streamed live and archived (for viewing at a later time, for example, at 9:00 AM or anytime the next week) on the Assumption Web page at https://assumptionmthealthy.org/ live-mass-streaming. We have had some technical difficulties live streaming Masses in the past. All of the bugs have been fixed and we are piloting the 4pm Saturday Mass. So if you have had difficulties in the past please try it again, it is working great. If you still have problems please call Julie at the parish office and she can direct you to someone that can help you, or email Ann Gruenwald at [email protected]. The National Association of Pastoral Musicians (NPM) is a membership organization of those concerned with liturgy and music in the Catholic Church of the United States. It is affiliated with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and has Cardinals, Bishops, clergy, religious as well as professional and volunteer musicians and liturgists as members. The annual NPM conference will be held in the Cincinnati Convention Center the week of July 10th, with over 2000 NPM members in attendance. The convention will open on Monday July 10th in the afternoon with great celebration and Mass. There is no greater thrill than praying and singing with such a large gathering of musicians and clergy. Cantors at the Ambo? There have been many questions about why our cantors, particularly at the 9 AM Mass, have begun singing and leading the Responsorial Psalm from the ambo. The answer is rather simple. The Psalms are scripture and scripture should always be proclaimed from the ambo. Because of logistic considerations with the ambo on the other side of the sanctuary from the cantors, past music directors and pastors have not been concerned about this here. However, recent church documents Volunteers are needed so that Cincinnati can host so many visi- have been clear about the Responsorial tors well. There are many ways to volunteer, including helping in the Psalm being sung, and sung from the ambo Exhibit Hall with the Silent Auction that takes place there. The NPM whenever possible. Since we have mobile Silent Auction is a fun event that gives the convention attendees an cantors at the 9 AM Mass and occasionally alternative experience and helps raise funds for NPM. Anne & Jim at other Masses, we are now doing a better Ketzer run this auction and some of our choir members have already job of following this directive. The Gospel signed up to help. It is hoped that there will be over 100 items up for Acclamation is not scripture, so the cantors bids. Last year in Houston the Silent Auction made over $13,000 for lead that from the cantor stand in the music NPM! And, it was great fun. There are also other volunteer options, area, as has been our long time practice. such as hospitality, information booth, stage set-up, moving equipment, and more. If you would like to be in a wonderful atmosphere with very talented and dedicated people, please consider volunteering some time that week. Just contact Anne Ketzer ([email protected]) if you have any questions or would like to volunteer or donate something for the NPM Silent Auction. Thanks to PTO and all their volunteers for having this fun evening for the students. Field Day The entire school participated in Field Day on May 26th. The students had a great time participating in different activities planned by Mr. Fleming (Physical Ed. teacher) and then enjoyed Mr. Softee ice cream at the end of the day. Open Enrollment continues at OLG for Gr ades K-8. If you have any questions or would like more information about the school please call the office at 931-3070. Living Stations The seventh grade students did a great job presenting the Living Stations again this year. It is amazing to see the reverence and talent these kids show in presenting this very special event. The annual Grades 1 –3 Special Person Day was held on April 12th. It began with a prayer service and presentations by each grade level. Everyone then enjoyed classroom visits and refreshments. Graduation Kindergarten Special Person Day was held in May. It also began with a Prayer Service and then the students and guests returned to the gym for refreshments and a great time playing Bingo. The eighth grade students graduated on May 31st. The day began with a light breakfast, a video of the students through the years, and a presentation of awards and report cards. The graduation mass was held at St. Ann with a reception in the gym right after the ceremony. The students then attended a social sponsored by PTO. Everyone enjoys these special days and this year was no exception. All had a great time. Once again the students in Drama Club did a wonderful job acting and singing for “The Wizard of Oz”. The students behind the scenes such as the tech crew, sound crew, etc, also helped make this a great play. We really do have many very talented students at OLG. Good luck to all those graduates in their future endeavors!! Family Picnic OLG celebrated the last day of school with an all school mass at 10:30. Students and guests then went back to the classrooms for final summer preparations and at noon went to the field for a family picnic. All had a great time and it is a great way to say farewell until next year. Thank you to Mrs. Nancy Robers, Mr. Brandan Langjahr, Mr. Rick Berling, Mrs. Terri Lynch, and all the volunteers who make these great drama presentations possible. Also, thanks to the PTO for making it possible for the entire school to attend the dress rehearsal on Thursday, May 11th. All that attended really enjoyed themselves. It is through your support that the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is able to aid those in need. If you are interested in joining us in our work making home visits or volunteering for Bundle Weekends, Community Meals, or joining the pantry volunteers, please contact the rectory. We meet the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7 PM in the St. Vincent de Paul Room.
