Bases Loaded
It was the bottom of the ninth. Jeffrey,
who had the high batting average for the
season, stepped up to the plate. He was
working off a full count. The score was tied.
The bases were loaded. The pitcher threw a
curve ball. Jeffrey tipped it and it hit the
backstop. There was a groan from the crowd
as the runners had to return to their bases.
The pitcher wound up and threw a slider.
