5th ANNUAL USBC WV STATE SENIORS
OPEN HANDICAP TOURNAMENT RULES
1. This tournament is open to all USBC sanctioned West Virginia bowlers age 55 and over at the time of participation. Participation in a senior
league is not required. Non members may participate by purchasing an associate membership.
2. Only Singles and Doubles Scores will count toward All Events. Team event scores will not count toward All-Events Scores. Only the Bowlers
first score recorded in Doubles will count toward All Events.
3. Handicap will be 90% of the difference between the bowler’s average and 230 for Singles, 460 for Doubles, and 920 for Team Events.
4. The Singles, Doubles, and All Events tournament will have five classes of bowlers: Super Senior: 75+, Class A: 70 – 74 years, Class B: 65 – 69
years, Class C: 60-64 years, and Class D: 55-59 years. The class will be determined by the youngest bowler’s age on the 1st day of the
tournament. The class for the doubles prize will be based on the age of the younger bowler. There will be only one class for the Team Events.
5. Entrants may compete twice in the Team and Double Events; however, half of the team must be different bowlers. Team combinations can
consist of: all men, all women, or men and women mixed. Bowlers that compete twice, may cash twice.
6. Entrants will use their highest USBC sanctioned average as printed in the 2008-09 Association yearbook. If the entrant does not have an
acceptable average from the previous season, the entrants can use their highest current season USBC league average based on 21 or more
games at the time of bowling. If the entrant has no previous or current average then the scratch 225 will be used. USBC Rule 319a-2 regarding
10 pin increase in average, Rule 319c regarding rerating, and USBC Rule 319d regarding previous prize winnings Rule 319e regarding the 15 or
more pin increase in average" are waived for this tournament.
7. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH BOWLER TO VERIFY THE ACCURACY OF THEIR AVERAGE AND THEIR BIRTH DATE. Failure to report
correct average or birth date, either higher or lower, shall disqualify the bowler unless a correction is made BEFORE the end of the first game of
the first series bowled.
8. The prize ratio shall be at least 1 in 6. All prize fees will be returned 100%. Prize lists for these events shall be based on handicapped scores.
No prize fund is available for actual scores.
9. In the event of a tie, the prize monies will be combined and divided equally. In the event of a tie for 1st place in All Events in any of the classes,
the bowler with the highest series with handicap, in the singles event of that class, shall be declared the winner.
10. The All Events (total pins in the doubles and singles events) Champion in each class will receive a paid entry, from the State BA, to the Open
National Seniors Championship Tournament conducted by USBC. If the 1 st place winner is unable to attend, the paid entry will be offered to
succeeding places.
11. Bowlers should check in at least 30 minutes prior to start of bowling with current USBC sanction card and proof of age (i.e., driver’s license).
12. On site tournament officials’ decisions shall be final unless an appeal is made in accordance with USBC Rule 329. Tournament staff will be
identified prior to start of bowling each session. The Tournament Directory reserves the rights to open additional shift if necessary.
13. Please do not send cash through the postal system. Checks returned due to insufficient funds will be charged an additional $20 fee.
