have been Director of Golf at Iver Golf Club, Head Professional at
Calcot Park Golf Club and Pinner Hill Golf Club.
Favourite Courses:
My favourite links course is Royal Dornoch in Scotland for the
fantastic views and natural quality of the golf course and my
favourite inland course is Sunningdale Old Course for the
atmosphere, history and mixture of Pine Trees and heath land
design.
Highlight as a player:
As an amateur I was the No 1 under 18 player for England Boys
and very proud to Captain the side way back in 1982. The most
memorable day was winning the British Boys Championship at
Burnham & Berrow beating Jesper Parnevik along the way. I won
the title on the first extra hole hitting the best one iron of my life
into a 25 mph wind 185 yards onto the green!!
As a Professional I played on the European Tour and won the
Individual Henry Cooper Pro/Celebrity at La Manga in Spain when
I was still in my early 20’s beating many Top European Tour
Professional’s.
Coaching Method/Philosophy:
“My philosophy is ‘Be the Golfer you want to be Now’ Rather
than What and Where you are” I am very experienced and
continue to develop different ways of improving my clients golf, I
am very comfortable coaching all levels of players having coached
a Walker Cup player and England International plus fellow
Professional’s. I run many beginner classes and Ladies/Men Group
programmes.
I do not teach a model swing as all of my clients are individual, so
one swing would not suit all. Golfers want very different results
out of the game from pure exercise to winning a major
championship so my method is to search what the player wants
out of the game and then build a programme to achieve their
goals.
I am currently a Lead Coach for The BB&O County junior academy
programme, A Fully Inclusive Disability Coach working for England
Golf, a TPI Certified Fitness Trainer for those players who want to
really put some hard work on their body!! If any players need
some help with their golf head!! Then I am also qualified
psychology coach to help them in that area.
All of my sessions have to include some FUN element whilst we
are learning new skills.
Having played to a very high level as a junior I am very passionate
of developing a junior programme where we can build a Pathway
for kids to start the game and become future Members of
Huntswood Golf Club in a thriving safe golf environment.
Aims for Huntswood Golf Club:
My goal for Huntswood Golf Club is to further increase the
enjoyment of the Members experience by creating a Professional
but approachable service in The Professional shop including a full
retail, custom fitting and repair centre.
Develop a complete Academy Coaching Programme including
Schools, Juniors, Disability Coaching, Ladies, Men and Seniors in
the form of individual and fun group sessions.
Work with the Huntswood Team to further improve the
Practice/Range areas and Golf Course to increase your golf
experience at The Club.
