Dear Parents,
Spring Music Concert
As the end of another successful term of music-making draws to close, it is with great pleasure that
we are inviting you to our spring concert on Friday 22nd March at 2:15. All year 4 children plus the
school orchestra will be performing the pieces they have been working on this term. The concert will
take place in the school hall and will be finished by around 3pm. There will be no orchestra rehearsal
after school on this day.
Also, after Easter we will be asking the children to start considering whether they would like to
continue with instrument lessons next year. We have had an overwhelmingly positive response from
the children this year. Following a survey undertaken last week, the majority of our year 4s are keen
to continue learning their instrument next year and have provided some encouraging feedback to our
music teachers about how much they are enjoying their lessons.
We sincerely hope that you will consider allowing you son/daughter to carry on next year. Lessons are
an absolute bargain, at £20 per term (plus £20 to hire an instrument) and provide the children with so
much enjoyment and fulfilment. In year 5, their lessons are in smaller groups (no larger than 4
children) and last half an hour. As a musician myself, I can only express how fortunate I was to have
an opportunity at the age of 8 to learn a musical instrument. I hope that many of our children will do
the same.
Thanks once again for your support. The children have thoroughly enjoyed their lessons this year and
have made fantastic progress. We hope your children continue to enjoy their music-making for the
rest of the year!
