I- GENERAL INFORMATION
1) DEYÖS is a selection and placement examination for international students who want
to study associate degree and undergraduate degree conducted by our university.
2) DEYÖS results are valid for the year of the exam.
3) Students are admitted to our university with the result of "Dokuz Eylül University
International Student Admission Examination" (DEYÖS). The student is not accepted
according to "Foreign Student Admission Exams" organized by other universities,
exams in the status of high school graduation exams (such as Abitur, ACT, GCE A
Level, International Baccalaureate, French Baccalaureate etc.) and university entrance
exam results at the international level (such as SAT etc.).
4) This guide covers information about DEYÖS and rules that candidates who apply for
DEYÖS to study at our university must follow.
5) Please view “Dokuz Eylül University Admission Directive For Students From
Abroad” for detailed information about acceptance of students from abroad.
II- EXAMINATION APPLICATION PROCEDURES
1) In accordance with the "Principles Regarding Acceptance of Students from
Abroad" of the Higher Education Council Presidency, the applications of the
following candidates are accepted.
They should be in the final year of high school or be in graduate condition;
1. Foreign nationals (Haymatlos (stateless) candidates are considered to be
foreign nationals regardless of whether they have studied in Turkey or outside
of Turkey.),
2. Those who are Turkish citizens by birth and have received expatriation permit
from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and their minors registered at the
expatriation document who can prove that they possess the Document Related
to the Usage of the Rights Granted Based on the Turkish Citizenship Law,
(Having the "Blue ID" and the "Expatriation Permit Document" as of the
deadline of DEYÖS application),
3. Those who are foreign citizens and passed to Turkish citizenship by acquired
citizenship/dual citizens in this case,

a. From the students who have T.C. nationality continuing secondary
education abroad before 01/02/2013, those who completed the last 3
(three) years of secondary education (high school) in a foreign country
other than T.R.N.C. (Turkish Republic of Northen Cyprus)(Including
those who have completed all secondary education (high school) in
Turkish Schools established within the Ministry of Education in a
foreign country other than T.R.N.C.),
b. Candidates who started secondary education abroad after 01/02/2013,
to the quotas of acceptance from abroad, those who completed all of

secondary education (high school) in a foreign country other than
T.R.N.C. (Including those who have completed all secondary education
(high school) in Turkish Schools established within the Ministry of
Education in a foreign country other than T.R.N.C.),
5. Those who are TRNC citizens, residing in the TRNC and completed secondary
(high school) education in TRNC having GCE AL (General Certificate of
Education (GCE) Advanced Level) exam results, and the ones who have or
will have GCE AL exam results by enrolling and being educated at other
country high schools between 2005-2010.
Candidates whose applications will not be accepted;
1. Turkish citizens who complete all of their high school education in Turkey or
TRNC,
2. TRNC citizens (Except for those who have finished all secondary education in
TRNC high schools having GCE AL results and who have enrolled and
educated in colleges and high schools in other countries between 2005 and
2010 having or will have GCE AL exam results),
3. Dual citizens who are Turkish citizens by birth (Except for those who have
completed all of their secondary education (high school) in Turkish schools of
MEB opened in a foreign country except TRNC.),
4. Those who completed all of their secondary education in Turkey among dual
citizens (one of them being Turkish) at the same time by birth,
5. Dual citizens one of them being TRNC. (Except for those who have finished all
secondary education in TRNC high schools having GCE AL results and who
have enrolled and educated in colleges and high schools in other countries
between 2005 and 2010 having or will have GCE AL exam results),
6. Turkish citizens or dual citizens whose first citizenship at birth is Turkish and
are educated in the schools of Turkish embassies and in foreign high schools in
Turkey,
2) Candidates for the exam must pay an application fee of 200 TL as determined by the
decision of the Executive Board of our University.
You can pay the fee at a Ziraat Bank branch with your name and surname cash or
via EFT or remittance. (Name and surname given upon application must match
those on the bank receipt)

Please keep your receipt of payment. (The receipt will be asked of you if a

We will approve your payment after checking your payment information on
our system. Applications by candidates who do not pay the fee will not be taken into
consideration.
3) DEYÖS applications will be received between dates given in the calendar. Below are
steps that will guide you through the application process;
a. Go to http://www.debis.deu.edu.tr/DEUWeb/Yos (The system will only be
active during application period.)

b. Click on “Register” and fill in your information correctly and thoroughly.
Candidates with middle names must
give their full names with no
abbreviations.
Date of birth plays a
decisive
role
in

processes
therefore it must be

Exam

Candidates who renounce their Turkish
nationality must fill these areas with
their “Blue ID” info.
Fill this area with the number on your
bank receipt (e.g. F00001). Don’t enter
IBAN, account no, etc.
Candidates who are dual
citizens

You need to give an active, reliable email address that belongs to you for a
healthy communication.
Candidates need to add a digital
copy of their photograph to this
area. This photograph has to be
taken clearly and frontal with an
uncovered face within the last six
months so that the candidate is
recognizable in the photograph.
(Please do not use any pale, dark
photographs taken from faraway
with an accessory such as
sunglasses .)
c. Check your information once more and then click on “Save”.

accordance with the rules.
You will see your application
number and password here. Write
down your “Application Number”
and “Password” or printout a copy
of this webpage as you will use them
during preference.
If you wish to make a change
in your application form, you
can do so by clicking on this
button before deadline for

Print your “Exam Entrance
Document”
once
you
confirm all the information
you have provided.
You will see “Your registration is completed” expression and
receive your “DEYOS ID Number” (Application Number) and “User
Password”. (As you will use application number and user password during
preference process, please write them down or print a copy of the page that is
opened.)
Click on the “Print Exam Entrance Document” button and take a
printout of the application form. It is necessary that you keep this document as
it will be required on examination day as “Exam Entrance Document”.
During application period, you can update your information after
signing in with your application number and password by clicking on

“Update” button. In case of an update, you will need a new printout of “Exam
Entrance Document”.
You need to go to the exam with “Exam Entrance Document” that
has information about your recent application. (A candidate who loses his/her
“Exam Entrance Document” will need to reprint a new copy by logging into
the system before the end of the application period.)
Note: It is required that candidates update their information instead of reapplying to prevent complications (e.g. a double application).
Candidates themselves are responsible for processes during application
period; University will take no responsibility.
III- EXAM INFORMATION
DEYÖS exam is conducted on two languages (Turkish and English) and consists
of 100 multiple choice questions. The test duration is 150 minutes.
The content of the exam consists of the following courses according to the high school
curriculum.

Only the right answers are taken into account when evaluating the exam, wrong
answers are not taken into account. (Wrong answers are ineffective in score calculation, so
answering all questions will be in favor.)
Number of correct answers for each course are used to calculate the standart deviation
and the mean (by setting the average of the distribution to 50 and the standard deviation to
10) and the standardization process is applied for the course. Standardized values are
multiplied by the coefficients and three different points as quantitative (SAY), verbal (SOZ),
and equally weight (EA) are calculated for each candidate.
IV-EXAMINATION
1) DEYÖS will be held at the given time and location in İzmir by our university after
application period completed.
2) The building information where candidates will enter the examination will be
announced on http://www.deu.edu.tr and http://ogrenci.deu.edu.tr after application

period for the examinations ends. Candidates will need to check their entrance
information on our webpages.
Candidates must have “Exam Entrance Document”, their bank receipt that shows
that they have paid the examination fee and their passports with them while the exam.
Candidates cannot enter the examination building with any other items except a pencil,
an eraser, and a pencil sharpener. (Smartwatches, smartphones, tablets and any other
electronic devices are not allowed.)
Candidates will be given an exam booklet and an optical answer sheet. All the
questions in the booklet are multiple choice. Every question has one correct answer. If
multiple options are marked or markings are done negligently not in accordance with
the rules, answers will be considered as incorrect. Answers marked on the booklet will
be invalid.
It is against the examination rules that candidates speak, cheat or attempt to help
another cheat. Examinations of students who do not follow the rules will be
invalid.
V- ANNOUNCEMENT OF EXAMINATION RESULTS
1) Results will be announced on http://www.deu.edu.tr and http://ogrenci.deu.edu.tr
2) Objections to the results will be made within 5 (five) working days to the entity that
has held the examination.
VI- PREFERENCE PROCESS
1) Candidates need to submit their preference by signing in with their “Application
Number” and “Password” at http://www.debis.deu.edu.tr/DEUWeb/Yos between
given dates.
2) In order to make a preference, candidates need to have at least a score of 50 (fifty) or
above in the field that the department they want to enroll belongs.

A candidate who has the scores above will only be able to make a preference in
SAY (Quantitative) and won’t be able to apply for a programme in SÖZ (Verbal) and
EA (Equally Weighted).
3) A candidate has only 8 (eight) preference options. Candidates need to pay attention to
the order of preference as it will be important for placement. Don’t put the same
programme/department more than once.

Candidates who make their preference list need to complete this process by
clicking on “Save”. (Your preferences will be invalid if you close the page without
saving.)
If a candidate wants to change one or all of their preferences, they will need to
make the whole preferences again after signing in with “Application Number” and
“Password” and clicking on “Save” on the website during preference period.
4) Any programmes that require a “Special Talent Test” will not be on the preference
list. Candidates who wish to enroll in such a programme will need to apply to the
respective faculty upon announcement on our website provided that they have at least
a score of 30 (thirty) in SÖZ (Verbal) from DEYÖS.
VII- PLACEMENT PROCESS
1) Placement according to the quotas will be done considering the order of preference
and how high the DEYÖS score is. The younger candidate will be given priority
between candidates who have the same score and make their preference the same.
2) Additional placements will may be done for unchosen quotas except for those
programmes that require a Special Talent Test. Whether an additional placement will
take place or not and other details will be announced.
3) The placement results will be announced on our website.
VIII- REGISTRATION
1) Candidates who qualify for registration will be announced on our website. A “Letter
of Acceptance” will be sent to the address candidates give in their application forms.
(Notice it is important that you give the address correctly.)
2) Registrations will be done at Office of Student Affairs (Cumhuriyet Bulvarı No:144
Alsancak/İZMİR). Candidates will lose the chance to register after registration
period.
3) Below is a list of required documents for registration;
a. High school diploma or temporary graduation certificate
b. Equivalency certificate of the high school diploma approved by the Ministry of
National Education, Provincial Directorate for National Education or Turkish

Foreign Missions (Required for candidates who graduated from a high
school out of Turkey)
c. “Residence Permission” or “Student Visa” (Required for foreign nationals
and those who reside abroad)
d. Bank receipt of tuition fee payments
e. Six (4,5 x 6 cm size) coloured head shot photographs (taken in the last six
months, frontal, and the candidate must be recognizable in the photograph)
f. If present, competence certificate for Turkish
g. Present competence certificate for foreign languages, if the programme is
partially or completely in a foreign language (Evaluation will be done by
School of Foreign Languages of our University)
h. A document or letter of undertaking showing that the candidate can get by in
Turkey (An exemplary letter of undertaking will be sent to your address)
i. Health certificate that is taken in accordance with the principles that
programmes/departments request
j. Canditates who are placed in the departments Maritime Faculty of Marine
Transportation Engineering (English), Marine Transportation Engineering
(English)(UOLP Maine Maritime Academy)(Paid), Marine Engineery
(English) and Marine Engineery (English)(UOLP Maine Maritime
Academy)(Paid) will need a "Seafarers’ Health Pollution Certificate" taken
from General Directorate of Border and Coastal Health, which certifies that the
health status is suitable for marine transportation.
k. “Certificate of Renounced Citizenship” and “Blue ID” from the ones who
are Turkish citizen by birth and having the right to leave Turkish citizenship by
the Ministry of the Interior.
l. A document that shows foreign nationals acquired Turkish citizenship
(certificate of identity register copy)
m. Translation of passport and its approved copy
n. GCE AL result document of The Republic of North Cyprus (TRNC) citizens
who are placed according to DEYÖS
4) If documents and statements required for registration are found to be
misstated, candidates could not be registered and the registered candidate will be
discharged.
