YOUTH TEAM MENTOR
Mission Statement: America SCORES Seattle provides elementary school students from under-served
communities with a five-day-a-week after school program combining literacy and athletics. With

engaged students and become agents of change in their communities.

Position Description:
 Mentorship based volunteer position – Ongoing position in which the volunteer is partnered
with a specific school, a team comprised of either 16 boys or 16 girls.
 Work with students in 3rd–5th grade, who are considered “at risk” for a variety of reasons.
 Volunteer will act as a role model for these students based on the values established by
America SCORES Seattle.
 Participation in a minimum of one Game Day per season is required. Game Days occur three
Fridays during each season during program hours.
Skills/Qualifications:
 Volunteer must enjoy working with youth.
 Volunteer must show cultural sensitivity.


A passion for writing, soccer, education,
health or community, is encouraged.
A criminal background check is required.
Seasons:
 Fall: September 21st through November 10th
 Winter: January 18th or 25th through March 11th (indoor)
 Spring: April 18th through June 13th (end of school)

Work Site Locations & Hours:
Days/hours are flexible, but we require a minimum of 90 minutes, 2 times per week within the following
