Team Captains
We have team captains in place for the Summer Area Dressage, Show Jumping, Eventing and
Mounted Games competitions. The team captains are there to give team members someone to
talk to about the Area competitions. Frankie Carr and Hannah Reardon will be responsible for
Show Jumping, Corinne Molyneux and Kiah Webster will be the Eventing Captains, Rebecca
Dale will look after the Dressage teams and Olivia Stubbs is Games Captain.
Their phone numbers are:
Frankie 07521297024
Hannah 07867 544424
Kiah 07527837737
Corinne 07710 669 662
Rebecca 01695 725 626
There will be a dismounted team building evening organised for team members in the weeks
before the Area competitions. Details of this will be sent to you once you have been selected
for the teams, so make sure that you contact the team captains in plenty of time, then the
teams can be organised early.
Winter Team Dressage and Show Jumping
We had good support for the Winter team dressage and the team show jumping competitions
from our Branch. We had some good results, but not quite enough
consistency to put us in the running for the trophies this time. We will be
trying again next Winter.
Dengie Winter Championships
Frankie Carr qualified for the Open Show Jumping Championships at Addington Manor.
Lucy Spiby and Ella Koole both qualified for the Novice Winter League Championships and
Emma Wall qualified for the new Dengie Debut competition. Frankie succeeded in winning
the Open being the fastest clear round in a thrilling jump off. Well done to all our
representatives.
Area Quiz
Our team at the Area Quiz at Westholme School did exceptionally well. Olivia Stubbs, Katie
Kellett, Emma Wall and Evelyn Girdlestone took 2nd place. An additional well done to them
for designing the winning team mascot.
Area Horse and Pony Care
This is a dismounted practical team competition. Competitors are tested on their horse care
knowledge and their practical ability to carry out tasks such as tacking up and bandaging in a
team environment. Practices for this are underway and the competition is on 18th June at
Beaumont Grange, Lancaster. Contact Jane Halpin if you are interested 07786 547 684
Road Rider
It is essential that you pass the Road Rider test before you can take C or C+ tests. If you think
that you would like to take this test please ring Mrs Rose for details of what training you need
to attend - 07709 410 037 or [email protected]
Mounted Games Training
Games training has been running all Winter and is still continuing once a week.
The Area competition is on 21st May at Lancaster. We have two junior teams and
one senior team entered, good luck to all.
Tetrathlon and Triathlon
The Area Triathlon competition (running, swimming and shooting) was held in
February at Merchant Taylor’s school in Southport. We were represented by three
teams. Olivia Stubbs, Jemima Stubbs, Georgina Stubbs, Joe Sutton, Emily Sutton, Freya
Ainscough, Jack Ainscough, Harry Clarke Tomlinson, Jack Watkinson and Charlotte
Watkinson. They all did really well. Joe and Emily Sutton both qualified for the
Championships as individuals, which was a fantastic result. Further shooting, swimming &
running practice will be held for anyone wishing to take part in the Area Tetrathlon (running,
swimming, shooting and cross country riding) on 24th/25th June. Contact Irene Sutton 01704
821 765 if you are interested in joining in.
Championships at Cholmondeley 18th-22nd August
The Summer Area competitions in Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing are all qualifiers
for the Championships at Cholmondeley. This is a fabulous show to attend and well worth
trying to qualify for. There are also some direct entry classes available. These include –
Dressage to Music classes, Musical ride and Dressage, Show Jumping & Eventing at Elite
level (more difficult than Open). We have a musical ride team already practising, so contact
Clare Dale if you interested in joining them 01695 725 626 or 07508 026 832. There will be
schedules available on the main Pony Club website for the Dressage to Music and Elite
competitions.
Aintree Camp Thursday 3rd August – Wednesday 9th August
Now is the time to put your name down for Summer Camp at Aintree and pay the £50
deposit. Contact Mrs Halpin or any committee member to book a place. Alternatively you can
go to our ‘Events booking’ page on the website and book on-line. The Isle of Man Branch
will be joining us again for Camp. Members wishing to attend camp must have attended
three rallies. In order to comply with racecourse rules, all horses and ponies must be fully
vaccinated. To ensure that you are not disappointed by having to miss Camp if your horse is
not correctly vaccinated, you should bring your horse's passport (with full vaccination record)
to a rally to have it checked. You must get your vaccination record checked before 1st July,
after this date there will NOT be time to have the vaccinations re-started if they are incorrect.
Payment for Camp can also be brought to a rally or sent to Mrs Halpin. Camp payments can
be made in instalments by arrangement with Mrs Halpin. Any parents who would be willing
to help in the kitchen at Camp please contact Mrs Mitchell or Mrs Rose. Total cost of Camp
is £260 (£230 for the second child in a family).
Racecourse vaccination requirements are as follows




Two primary injections not less than 21 days apart and not more than 92 days apart.
A first booster must be given not less than 150 days nor more than 215 days after the
second primary injection.
Subsequent booster injections must be given at intervals of not more than one year,
commencing after the first booster injection.
The minimum requirement for racecourse entry is the two primary injections,
providing the date for the first booster has not passed.
No horse is allowed on racecourse premises if it has had a vaccination injection within
the last 7 days.
Junior Camp Tuesday 29th –Thursday 31st August
Junior camp will be held at Asmall Livery stables. This is a non-residential camp for those
aged 10 & under. Deposits of £10 are now needed to secure a place on this Camp. The total
cost will be £110. This includes three days of tuition both mounted and dismounted. Also fun
games and quizzes, E & D testing for those that want to take tests and a Show on the final
afternoon with rosettes and prizes. Parents and relatives are invited to attend the Show to
watch. Deposits can be paid on-line by visiting the ‘Events Booking’ page of our website, or
a cheque can be sent to our treasurer Jane Halpin, Feniscliffe, Longmoss Lane, New
Longton, Preston PR4 4XN
Summer Area Teams
Remember all members who wish to be in teams must attend at least 3 rallies. They must also
have either achieved or done some work towards achieving the relevant Competition Badge.
Training for this will be at some of the Show Jumping training at Church Farm and at the
Dressage training at Thompson House Farm. For Dressage, Show Jumping and Eventing
there are 4 levels of qualifying competition – Grassroots, Novice, Intermediate and Open. If
you are interested in being in a team you need to contact Fiona or the relevant team captain.
At Summer Area competitions, members will be asked to pay half the entry fee, with the
Branch paying the remainder. In most cases, entry fees are not refundable should the member
withdraw from the competition. Therefore, once a member has committed to take a place on
the team they will be asked for their contribution. The Branch will pay the full entry fee for
any member qualifying for the Championships.
Training sessions and events bookings
You must contact the organiser of each event or rally at least 3 days before, in order to secure
a place. We will be putting more of our events and training sessions on to the Events booking
page of the website so that you can book on-line if you wish.
