ACE Math Tutoring
The Hastings Recreation Department is sponsoring its first academic community program to help
students in Grades 4 – 9 improve their mathematics skills.
Course 1: Foundations of Mathematics, Intro to Pre-Algebra*
Grades: 4-6th
This program will help students master mathematics skills to prepare for the NYS Testing Program, solve real world
math problems and homework help.
The course is aligned with the NYS Curriculum Standards. Materials used include Everyday Mathematics, Scholastic
Math, Prentice Hall and computer learning aids.
Cost: $399 (includes materials)
Where: James Harmon Community Center
When: 6 week programs, hourly sessions on Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday
Course 2: Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry*
Grades: 7-9th
This program will help students develop and enhance their math skills, apply in-class skills to real world problems, help
with homework and prepare for the NYS Tests.
Topics covered include Pre-Algebra, Algebra, Geometry. The course is aligned with NYS Curriculum Standards.
Materials used include IMPACT Mathematics, HOLT and Prentice Hall learning aids.
Cost: $399 (includes materials)

When: 6 week programs, 2 hour sessions on Fridays/Saturday
Course 3: NYS Math Regents, SAT Math Test Prep*
Grades: 8-10th
This program will provide students with the necessary guidance to develop and enhance their math skills, and improve
test performance. Focus on sample test questions, conduct mock tests, test taking strategies and motivational techniques.
Cost: $399 (includes materials)

When: 6 week programs, 2 hour sessions on Saturday
Course 4: Personal Finance – Banking and Money*
Grades: 7-12th
This program is designed for students who are interested in real world applications of mathematics. Personal finance
topics will include money and banking, investment management and business management.
Cost: $399 (includes materials)

When: 8 week programs, 1 hour sessions on Friday/Saturday
