We’re Moving! Update No. 4 École St. Joseph School is on the move! And we are packing! The end of June is coming very quickly! Along with all the school work that must be done, exams to prepare for, assignments to complete, files to be finished, trips to be planned, report cards to be completed, and so much more, we are preparing for the move of a lifetime! Pre-move: The staff of École St. Joseph School went to visit the new school on May 18. Because it is a construction site, they had to “gear up” and be trained in safety before they went in. They got to see all the new learning spaces, the colours and the size of the rooms and spaces. This trip made the whole thing just a little more real. And they were excited about what they saw. 1 Who knew we had all this stuff? And of course, the packing and purging at the old school continues. Everything must be ready for the end of June. Much of the final packing will be completed in that last week of June. The staff are finding ways to do the packing and purging without any effect on the completion of the year for the students. The Move: August 21 remains the move in date. A detailed plan is in place for all the moving strategies: furniture, equipment material and supplies to be moved after August 21, the setting up of new telephone systems, PA systems, technology, new furniture, new appliances for the Home Ec Room, the commercial kitchen appliances, new technology, etc. This plan is shared with Alberta Infrastructure and Alberta Education and updated regularly. Please Note As much as we hope everything will be ready for students on opening day, we are realistic too, and know that we will have to make accommodations for unknown situations that may arise. We will all have to be flexible and prepared to deal with the realities of a new school site. We assure you that student safety and success are always priorities. The playground will not be moved before the opening- site readiness and site wetness and preparation are big factors The wet conditions of the site may slow down the move of the modular classrooms. We’ll develop an accommodation plan. Summer communications For Staff- remind and use email Parents, students, the community- Check the web-site, school social media.
