PG Dip Level Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and
Groupwork (COSCA Diploma Validation Applied for)
The course has been written to provide Participants with a solid grounding in the theory and
practice of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and its application within clinical settings.
Furthermore, the course content aims to provide participants with a working knowledge of
the policies, protocols, assessment methodology and legislation relevant to settings within
which CBT is practiced in the UK. Lastly, the course team believe that CBT is an effective
approach based upon empiricism. We also believe that there are other models of therapy
that enhance the practice of CBT and that Counselling Skills and Counselling process are
integral to participants learning. Therefore, participants will graduate as Qualified CBT
Therapists and will also be schooled as an integrative practitioner.
The minimal entry requirements for the course are an HNC Level qualification in Counselling
Skills (COSCA Certificate or equivalent). Applicants who believe that they can meet these
requirements through APL/APEL may request the necessary paperwork from the Course
Administrator. Applicants must evidence that they meet with the minimal entry
requirements as well as having the Knowledge, Skills and Attitude necessary to train as a
Counsellor before acceptance onto the course. The above will be evidenced by the
completion of an application form, 500 word essay (within which the applicant must
critically analyse their previous participation in learning environments as well as making a

claim for suitability to undertake this course at this time), proof of qualifications, attendance
at interview and providing 2 references.
The Diploma is written and directed by Andy Gray (COSCA Accredited Diploma Level Trainer,
BABCP Accredited CP Psychotherapist, BABCP Accredited Clinical Supervisor, BABCP
Accredited Trainer), who has enormous experience in the practice of CBT, Clinical
Supervision and delivery of CBT training throughout the UK. All of the Course Team are
Accredited Psychotherapists. The course is externally verified once per year by suitably
qualified and experienced Academic Assessors.
Delivery of the course will take place on one weekend per month or one day per week (20
contact hours per month) within ACT Counselling Services premises (address listed below).
The course runs from September ‘17 – June ‘19 over 2 years. The premises are ideally
located for participants attending either locally or from further afield.
The delivery of CBT training is a passion for ACT Counselling Services Ltd, and with this in
mind we keep our course fees as low and affordable as possible.
