Coaches York Road (opposite Archery Road) is our recommended approach for Coach Drop off - we would advise entering York Road at the old Library end (Avenue Road) and drive round close to the junction with Adelaide Road to drop off (Position A below). Passengers can then cross Adelaide Road using the pedestrian crossing a few meters North of York Road. Coaches can drive round to Newbold Comyn top Car Park (nearest Football Pitches, where free parking is available. Alternatively, Adelaide Road, heading North, has an section of double yellow lines on the left approaching Archery Road where a coaches may stop briefly to allow passengers to alight. (Position B below) However there are trees along this section with overhanging branches which will need to be avoided and coach drivers will need to ensure they do not obstruct access ways or visibility for the junction Collection of passengers is more problematic than drop off as the coach cannot wait for passengers on a double yellow line, it may be necessary to drive around the block to allow passengers to assemble in order to avoid creating an obstruction. Coach drop off, parking, or turning is not permitted by Warwick District Council within Victoria Park at any time. There is not sufficient turning space in the entrance area to Victoria Park by the railway arches (Princess Drive entrance) for coaches to enter, turn and depart. Therefore the Council strongly advises coaches to not attempt to access the venue or drop off passengers at this point. Archery Road is a highway and not under the control of WDC, however there is no space for turning or parking in Archery Road and we would therefore advise coaches do not enter Archery Road. During the annual National Championships this road will be subject to a Road Closure and Coaches will not be granted access. York Road is also highway and comes under the administration of the County Council as Highway Authority. The District Council has no authority over it other than administering the residents parking scheme until November 2014. The District Council is therefore not at liberty to grant or refuse coaches access to this road or space along it. The housing side of York Road has demarcated bays which are subject to a residents parking scheme, normally it is not possible to park a coach in these without applying (and paying) for a parking bay suspension which has associated signs and potential enforcement for anyone contravening the notices. We may consider these during the Nationals. Coaches parking in residents parking areas without having a bay suspension in place would be subject to enforcement action and penalty charges. The river side of York Road remains unrestricted - there are no marked bays, no time limits, no enforcement action and no potential to officially reserve the space for any specific vehicles. You may try using cones to “reserve”, but they will have no official standing.
