Jonas Folger gets first victory for Dynavolt
Intact GP in Brno, Czech Republic

An absolutely dominating Jonas Folger stormed to victory in a rainsoaked race in Brno for the Dynavolt Intact GP team supported by
LIQUI MOLY. An unlucky fall for Sandro Cortese in the Czech
Grand Prix, who impressed in Moto2 with one of his strongest races.
At the same time, the racing team set a course for the future: Marcel
Schrötter is Cortese's new team colleague. In the coming season
Folger will take part in MotoGP.
For Jonas Folger the victory in Brno, Czech Republic was the third
triumph in the Moto2 class. After Argentina, Spain and Germany it was
his fourth podium of the year. This allowed him to jump from seventh to
fourth place in the World Standing.
In dry weather conditions, Folger secured starting position number seven.
Sandro Cortese started the race in eleventh place. On the Sunday of the
race it was pouring with rain. Nevertheless, both Dynavolt Intact GP
riders set a fast time in the morning warm-up. Folger already grabbed
first place at this point. Cortese was right behind his team colleague in
third.
As the race in the rain began, Folger raced to the front and never gave up
his leading position until the end of the race. The Kalex rider rode
impressive lap times in the most difficult of weather conditions, the
fastest of which was 2'14.528. Often he was more than half a second
quicker than his closest rival Alex Rins. After 20 laps, a jubilant Folger
finally crossed the finish line with more than five seconds advantage. "It
finally worked out," said the winner. "It was a long race. I tried to make
as few mistakes as possible. That was pretty hard as we rode fast times
and Alex (Rins) was right behind me. It was clear to me that I would go
for the win. It was actually a relaxed race, until the last few laps, where I
took quite a few risks again in order to get the four seconds."
Cortese was once again befallen with bad luck. The 26-year-old got to
fourth position with just as significantly fast lap times. The third fastest
lap, 2'15.017, was his. This meant he was a second better than some of
his direct competitors. However, as he went past Italian Mattia Pasini on
the penultimate lap, and wanted to undertake him, there was a collision
and Cortese fell. "I was fifth and felt really relaxed. But what else can I
say now? There is nothing to be said. I am very disappointed." A
disappointing result, but at the same time one of the strongest races by
Cortese in the Moto2 class.
Marcel Schrötter moves to Dynavolt Intact GP
On the edge of the Grand Prix in Brno the Dynavolt Intact GP team
signed up Marcel Schrötter. The 23-year-old from Dießen am Ammersee,
Germany has been riding in Grand Prix motorcycle racing for eight
years, doing so in the middle category since 2012. Because the
cooperation with Moto3 world champion Sandro Cortese is being
continued, the racing team is once again starting with a German-German
rider pairing in the coming season. Team manager Jürgen Lingg: "Marcel
was already on our radar last year. From that point of view it is logical
that he made the short list again this year, after it became clear that Jonas
was leaving us. I am also very happy that we were able to come to an
agreement again with Sandro. In spite of the ups and downs that he dealt
with last year, we are absolutely convinced that we can do a lot better
with him."
The next Grand Prix will take place from 2 to 4 September in
Silverstone, UK.
