Contract Management and
environmental reporting
As an Energy Action client, you join thousands of
companies who have decided to take control of the
way they manage their energy costs and usage.
Through our Contract Management & Environmental
Reporting service, we provide innovative and
independent analysis of your energy data,
transforming it into high quality and usable business
intelligence to proactively control and minimise your
energy expenses, emissions and wastes, resulting in
substantial savings.
Bill Validation
Our team has an in-depth understanding of the
different components of an energy bill and will validate
your bill to identify any discrepancies or incorrect
charges. The team also monitors the energy industry
to ensure we are aware of changes by energy retailers
that may impact you. If any issues are identified, we
will liaise with your energy supplier on your behalf to
help facilitate reimbursements for incorrect billing.
Tariff Reviews
Our Energy Metrics offer is based on a proven
technology platform that allows us to:
ƒƒ Help you save money by ensuring your bills
are correct and on the right tariff. We will fix
any overpayments and let you know of any
underpayments;
ƒƒ Provide an easy way to track monthly costs against
budget, by state or site if required;
ƒƒ Help you manage your annual budgets by providing
reliable annual budget estimates that reflect the
next financial years market conditions;
ƒƒ Streamline your payment process through the
provision of bill payment files, helping avoid late
fees;

opportunities;
ƒƒ Support you with a dedicated Account Manager
who is knowledgeable in the energy market, can
provide advice and is available when you need
help;
ƒƒ Minimise the risk of energy market penalties with
the monitoring and management of your energy
contract transfers and consumption excesses;
ƒƒ Manage escalations and queries with your energy
retailer through to resolution.
5 | Energy Action Corporate Profile
Energy Action will ensure your energy contract is
on the most cost effective tariff. Network tariffs are
reviewed annually by each state at different times of
the year: Victoria in January and remaining states in
July. As part of our service, we will review your energy
data, keep you updated on the network tariff review
and regulations by state, provide alerts on changes
and potential cost impact. If changes are required to
secure savings, we will work with the energy retailer
on your behalf.
Electricity Budget Estimate Reporting
Energy Action assists with the budgeting for
your energy costs. We use contracted rates and
currently available price projections for network and
environmental costs (where applicable) to estimate a
budget for the upcoming financial year in conjunction
with your contracted retail rates, using your sites’ last
12 months of usage history.
We aim to project realistic costs using published
networks price paths, compliance percentages, and
escalations of environmental certificates and the
introduction of new government policies.
Contract Administration/Case & Dispute
Management
Consider Energy Action to be your first point of call
when it comes to managing your energy contract
and billing. Our dedicated team of specialists will help

Projects AND advisory SERVICES
Our Projects & Advisory Services team is a specialist
energy efficiency and sustainability management team
with broad skills and deep experience in the industrial
and commercial sector. Our energy management
lifecycle model is what makes us unique – we will
analyse and determine energy reduction opportunities
within your business, define the implementation
measures necessary to achieve them with associated
business cases and then deliver them. On completion
we measure and verify that the defined savings have
been achieved. We take responsibility and manage
your energy from beginning to end.
Energy Audits & Assessments
The first step in reducing a site’s energy use is to
identify exactly where and how much energy is being
used. With a detailed picture of what components use
how much energy, we can then identify opportunities
to optimise energy use.

National Australian Built Environment Rating
System (NABERS) and the Commercial
Building Disclosure (CBD) Program
NABERS is a national rating system that measures
the environmental performance of Australian buildings
based on energy efficiency, water usage, waste
management and indoor environment quality. Energy
Action has the largest pool of NABERS expertise in
the country.
The CBD Program requires building spaces of
1000m2 and over to obtain a Building Energy
Efficiency Certificate (BEEC) before the building goes
on the market. Our team is accredited to undertake
CBD Tenancy Lighting Assessments (TLA) and we
provide everything you need for your BEEC.
We have the experience, skills and systems to ensure
that your building or portfolio can keep its ratings up
to date.
Retro-commissioning & Tuning
Improvements in energy efficiency don’t necessarily
require large investments in a new plant and
equipment: simply tuning your existing assets can
save up to 20-30% in energy consumption. Our
services include:
ƒƒ Identification and rectification of operational and
maintenance failures;
ƒƒ Recommissioning of key systems and settings
affecting energy use;
ƒƒ Monitoring and targeting to identify new
opportunities and issues as they eventuate.

Grants & Funding
State and Federal Governments provide grant
initiatives that assist with establishing the feasibility
of upgrading systems and equipment and, at times,
offsetting the capital cost of specific projects.
Energy Action’s consultants constantly monitor
developments so our clients can benefit from funding
as it is made available.
Independent Commissioning Agent
The Green Star accreditation scheme requires the
engagement of an Independent Commissioning
Agent (ICA), which Energy Action can provide. We
ensure that your building or industrial facility will
operate as intended from day one.

Measurement & Verification
To improve a site’s energy performance, Energy
Action offers metering, monitoring and verification
services which provide online real-time monitoring
and reporting of energy meters and Building
Management Systems.
The Embedded Engineer service utilises our specialist
staff to review and diagnose site performance trends
to proactively identify opportunities for savings.
Our Energy Management and Diagnostic Service
(EMDS) continually monitors data from your building
and analyses it to highlight anomalies and identify
inefficiencies. The Energy Monitoring service
continually monitors your buildings energy usage over
time and flags poor performance that may be costing
you money.
All these services provide energy saving opportunities
and allows us to assist you in optimising your
buildings performance.
Demand Management Solutions
Installing new equipment to reduce peak energy
demand at your site can have a short term payback
period, often as little as 12 to 18 months. Energy
Action can perform feasibility studies, undertake
design services and provide turnkey project
implementations across a range of core technologies.
Lighting Design, Supply & Install
Lighting is one of the most energy-intensive
components in a commercial building operation and
presents an easy retrofit opportunity which can lead
to savings of over 70%. Our lighting consultancy

Renewable & Onsite Generation Solutions
Increasingly, businesses are investing in alternate
site-based generation solutions to offset grid-supplied
electricity. Energy Action performs feasibility studies,
designs, supplies, installs and commissions a range
of renewable and onsite generation technologies.
Solar Design, Supply & Install
The installation of a solar power system at your site
will generate renewable energy now and into the
future, offsetting the energy required from the grid
and reducing your energy costs. Energy Action is able
to provide the best possible solar solution for your
site to ensure it is the correct size for your energy
requirements and presents the shortest possible
payback period.
Microgrids
A Microgrid is a small-scale power grid that can
operate independently or in conjunction with the
area’s main electrical grid. Any small-scale localised
station with its own power resources, generation,
loads and definable boundaries qualifies as a
Microgrid.
Energy Action’s unique lifecycle energy management
capabilities allows for the provision of all key
aspects of both the establishment and the ongoing
management of a Microgrid. This includes solar
generation, metering design, turnkey project
implementation, grid procurement and ongoing
tenant metering, billing, reconciliations and regulatory
compliance.
Commercial Building Upgrade
For buildings with a low NABERS rating (3.5 stars
of less) we can help to increase the rating to 4.5 or
above, providing a number of benefits, including:
ƒƒ
ƒƒ
ƒƒ
ƒƒ
ƒƒ
Reducing your energy consumption/costs
Increasing the building value
Generating higher rental returns
Improved comfort of tenants and
