LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT 2016-2017 Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Districtwide Funding Available: $32.5 million Letter of Intent to Apply for Career Technical Education Incentive Grant Funding To apply for Career Technical Education Incentive Grant (CTEIG) funding, schools must submit the attached Letter of Intent (LOI). When selecting the Industry Sector Pathway for the LOI and potential application, school teams (Administrator, CTE Teacher, Lead Teacher) must consider the following: (a) LA Regional Economic Forecast for the Industry Sector, (b) CTE Teacher credentialed in identified Industry Sector on staff, or ability to hire, along with a stacked course sequence, (c) Alignment with all other sources of funding (e.g. Perkins, CPA, Linked Learning, General Funds, Other Grants) available to support the pathway. Schools must maintain the CTEIG pathway investments made at their campus through 2021-22, as required by the California Department of Education. Based on the criteria above, qualifying schools will be invited to submit an application for funding. A scoring preference will be provided to all Industry Sector Pathways aligned with (a) above. Aligned pathways are identified in the attached CTE Industry Sectors and Pathways document and attached United Way report. Submission of a Letter of Intent does not mean your site will be funded. Scanned copies of the completed LOI and all required documents are due to your CTE Advisor by e-mail by April 25, 2016. Please contact CTE/Perkins Coordinator, Seema Puri, at [email protected] or (213) 241-1298 for any questions. Applications will be distributed to qualifying schools on May 2, 2016 for the 2016-17 academic year. Applications from qualifying schools will be due June 10, 2016. Please consider the CTE teacher funding requirements in the attached DRAFT CTEIG Funding Request and plan your site budget accordingly should your school qualify for funding and you wish to purchase a new CTE teacher. Requirements for CTEIG funding for the 2016-2017 school year: 1. Teacher must possess a valid Designated Subjects or Single Subject CTE credential in the pathway requesting funding FY 2016-2017. 2. Schools must commit their Master Schedule to at least two (year-long) CTE approved courses, which must be taught by the requesting teacher(s). (Section A on the following page.) A scoring preference will be provided for a three course stacked CTE course sequence. Approved courses can be found on the attached CTE Course List, sorted by Industry Sector. If a complete course sequence (Introductory, Concentrator, Capstone) is not available, the school can immediately request funding to write a course or courses or request the Linked Learning/CTE office to write the course(s). 3. ALL students must be programmed as a cohort in the two or three-course sequence. In Section B on the following page, provide the CTE course schedule that was implemented at your site in both fall and spring semesters of the 2015-16 school year. 4. The CTE teacher will affiliate with a student leadership program providing pathway related leadership training. If you wish to access CTEIG or Perkins funding for your student leadership organization, it must be a CDE approved organization.
