Flu Vaccination Day is Friday 23rd October. Please be sure to return your permission slip to
school before this date.
Wednesday 28th October is a non-uniform day in aid of Leah Goss, granddaughter of retired
Principal of Killean PS, Ms Eleanor Goss. Children may come to school in Halloween Costume.
We appreciate a £1 donation to support this cause. Your support is very much appreciated as
always.
Thanks to REIM Training Solutions who delivered a very valuable training session to children in
P5, P6 & P7 on Internet Safety on 24th September. Parents of Killean PS & Killean Play School all
received an invitation to attend a highly informative and worthwhile evening on Internet Safety on
the same date. Both training sessions were very informative and worthwhile as it provided excellent
advice on how to keep our children safe while online.

It is important that children arrive to their class on time and that they
remain in class until the end of the school day. Missing even a few
minutes a day can add up to a lot of lost lesson time.
Please send in all money with your child on
Monday morning for the week ahead.

Killean School is a happy and safe place for all the children who attend. In order to keep this very
special atmosphere we encourage anyone who is feeling uncomfortable or unhappy about anything
at all to speak to an adult in school. Children and parents can speak to the class teacher or the
Principal. Anyone who is worried about something can also speak to Mrs Lambe, our Designated
Teacher for child protection, or to Mrs Gollogly, our Deputy Designated Teacher for child
protection. All adults in school are here to provide help and support to the children. It is important
that any cause for concern is reported so that appropriate action may be taken for everyone’s
comfort and safety. Our policies on all child protection and pastoral care issues are available on our
school website http://www.killeanps.com/policies.html
In this current financial climate school budgets are feeling the strain. In order to continue to provide
the resources needed to enhance the educational experiences of your children we are constantly
needing to boost school funds. The main aim we have is to raise enough money to allow us to
subsidise the cost of extra-curricular activities over the course of the year and so reduce the strain
on the family purse. Easy Fund Raising is an easy and effective method of raising money at no cost
to families. Simply go through Easy Fund Raising when you shop online and the company you buy
from will make a donation to your chosen charity. Find the link to Easy Fund Raising on our school
website at: www.killeanps.com
