Leisure time = free time where you can
decide what you do.

Reasons for Increased Leisure Time
Shorter working week. Earlier
finish from work EU law on
hours of work.
Higher levels of
unemployment. People not in
full time work have free time
Technological advances.
Labor saving devices. Internet
allows people to work from
home so no travel time.
Part-time & shift work. Any
time of the day people may
have time available.
Result of this Leisure Industry has
grown to meet this demand.
• Who provides this?
• Local authorities in the form of Leisure centers
non profit making organisations such as
Putney Leisure centre.
• Private clubs – profit making organisations
such as Esporta, Virgin gyms.
• These form what is called THE Leisure
Industry
They have identified particular USER
GROUPS who they target.
• Mother and Toddlers.
• Unemployed people.
• Shift workers
Fairness (Etiquette)
• Define it using an example from a sporting
situation.
• What role do rules play in making an activity
fair?
Etiquette?
Personal social responsibility
• Playing in the spirit of the game and not trying
to bend the rules. (Is this achievable in
modern sport?)
• Responding positively to officials (respect)
