Friday 21st April 2017 IMPORTANT BALL FESTIVAL ADVANCE INFORMATION Dear Householder/Business Owner, We’re delighted to be welcoming Ireland’s first student-only festival to Dun Laoghaire on Friday 28th April. The 6000 capacity licensed student-only event will feature 2 stages, fun fair, food yard and a world class line up including festival headliner Gavin James and a host of local and international talent. This one day festival aims to bring together all third-level students to celebrate their end of year in a safe and enjoyable environment. This letter is to provide advance information to residents and business owners in relation to the forthcoming student-only Ball Festival which is taking place on Friday 28th April on St. Michael’s Pier in Dun Laoghaire Harbour (The former HSS Ferry Terminal). The licensed outdoor event has been subject to considerable planning and liaison with the statutory agencies and stakeholders of the area, to ensure that minimal impact is made on those living and working around the festival location. An Garda Siochana, security teams, a medical team, welfare crews and a safety boat will be in attendance to ensure both the safety of our attendees and to minimise the impact on the regular running of Dun Laoghaire town. The event build will commence on Tuesday 25th April, with the event itself taking place on Friday 28th April starting at 3pm and finishing at 10:30pm. An extensive transport plan has been put in place, in consultation with Dublin Bus and Irish Rail, to provide an enhanced service following the end of the event to ensure attendees can vacate the area as quickly and as easily as possible. We do not anticipate any major problems but in the event that you have a concern on event day please phone 086 4101528 and we will send an appropriate response. There will be student welfare and security teams on duty throughout Dun Laoghaire as well as the festival location itself and a heightened An Garda Siochana presence if required. Please understand that this phone will be in operation from 12 noon on Friday 28th April till Midnight ONLY. If you have a query or wish to speak to someone in advance of the event please feel free to email [email protected] and we will kindly be of assistance. More information on the event can be found at www.theball.ie. Should you happen to have a student enrolled in full or part-time third level education living or working in your residence or workplace please feel free to contact us for discounted tickets should they wish to attend. Thank you very much for your consideration. The Ball Team
