CONDITIONS
(To be read in conjunction with Golfing Union of Ireland Tournament Conditions 2017)
•
Each team shall consist of ten members, five pairs playing foursomes off scratch
•
No player shall be eligible to compete whose playing handicap was less than 12 during the previous calendar
year. The combined handicap of each pair, based on their lowest playing handicaps in the preceding calendar,
shall not be less than 27
•
No player who is under 18 years of age on the first day of January of the year of the Tournament is eligible
to compete
•
The respective Team Captains must hand their team sheets, complete with reserves, to the Branch Official in
charge not less than 30 minutes before the start of play. Leinster Golf and its Match Officials reserve the
right to alter tee-times
•
Competitors must have competed in at least four singles Qualifying Competitions in the previous calendar
year. If a player changes his club during the previous calendar year, it is his responsibility to produce evidence
of four Qualifying Competitions
•
In addition, a copy of the “Cups & Shields Handicap Report” generated from Golfnet which provides
evidence of the lowest handicap held and the number of qualifying scores for each member of the team, in
the previous calendar year, must be exchanged with the team sheet between the team managers. If the
report is not available at the start of play, it must be presented at the latest at close of play that day. Failure
to comply with this rule will lead to the disqualification of the team concerned
•
The Qualifying Round on Day 1 will be foursomes medal play, best four cards of five to count
•
If there is a tie, the worst card of the four shall be discarded and consideration given to the remaining three
cards
•
If there is still a tie this process will be continued until only the best card of each team remains. If still a tie,
the decision shall be on the last 9, 6, 3, 2, 1 of the best card; if still a tie on the last 3, 6, 7, 8 of the first nine;
if still tied the winner shall be decided by lot
•
A team Captain may nominate two pairs as reserves
