MEMO To: All DCFNA Clubs Subject: Clarification around Coaches Boxes Date: 13 August 2016 DCFNA Committee has been asked to review its decision to restrict coaches to inside of the coach’s boxes during all games. After seeking advice from Netball Victoria around the issues we face at the Association and the fact that our courts do not comply with Netball Victoria’s Facility Strategy, the Association at our meeting on 13 August 2016 has decided to trial the following; 9.00 am and 9.50 am games Coach’s are allowed to walk up and down the sidelines to assist those starting netball This relates to 1 coach only. Where there is more than one coach in a team, the second coach is to remain within the coach’s box All substitute players and drink bottles etc. are to remain in the coaches boxes All other games The coach is allowed to be outside the coach’s box but must stand in one position and not walk up and down the sideline. That position is only allowed to be up to a marked temporary chalk line on the same side of the coach’s box (See diagram below). If this trial becomes permanent, then this will be replaced with a painted line All substitute players and drink bottles etc. are to remain in the coaches boxes Parents and substitute players are not to stand along the sideline It is the responsibility of the coach to ensure that parents and substitute players comply with this Coaches must also be aware that there may be an umpire running behind them, so please ensure that you do not step back too far. An exception to this is where umpires testers may be sitting on the sides of courts, however, on the occasions that this occurs, courts will be moved to assist with this, where possible or other times at the discretion of the DCFNA Committee. This will be trialed for the remainder of Term 3 and will be reassessed to determine its success or otherwise. Mark Goldspink President
