SCPR 11U MACHINE PITCH Mission To provide a recreational baseball league that promotes good sportsmanship and team play in a non-competitive setting. Coaches may alter rules to benefit the participants. However, game times may never be extended. Sportsmanship a. Players will remain on the bench at all times unless playing under direction of the coach. Parents and coaches must remain positive in all aspects of verbal or non-verbal communication. b. Offensive coaches shall remain in the 1st and 3rd base coach boxes. Defensive coaches shall remain in the dugout. Game Administration a. Base Length- 65’ Pitch 40’ Machine pitch speed 30 mph, may be increased as the season progresses. b. 5 runs maximum per inning per team or three outs whichever occurs first. c. Lineups should be exchanged between coaches before the game so batting order can be kept track of and each player bats as his/her name appears in the lineup. Alternate boy/girl or vice versa when possible. Players may be removed and return to the field but may not advance in the lineup. Player Participation a. Each player present will have one turn at bat or the game shall not conclude. Game Length a. Pre-game schedule: 15 min. prior the visitors take infield; 10 min prior the home team takes the field (each team will get a 5 minute infield). b. A complete game will consist of 5 innings or one hour and 15 minutes. Each half inning will consist of three outs or five runs. c. Game times will be 6:00 and 7:30 p.m. Batting a. Batter will receive five pitches from the machine. b. If a batter fails to put the ball in play, he/she will be out or a walk is awarded, depending on coach agreement prior to the game. c. A batted ball should travel at least 10 feet. d. All offensive players in the playing field shall wear a batting helmet. Pitching a. Coach will operate machine. Be careful and protect the pitcher behind you. b. Player will be the catcher, but coach may act as catcher if no player is available. Base Running a. No stealing will be allowed. b. Base runners may not lead off. c. Base runners may run more than one base at a time. Equipment a. Batting helmets will be provided at game location. b. Coaches will get catchers gear at coaches meeting. c. Coach will get game balls at the meeting. Uniforms a. Shirts and ball caps are provided. Colors selected at coaches meeting. Official Lineups a. Teams will utilize 9 players. b. In the event that one team does not have enough players present to field a team, coaches can agree to utilize players from the other team, or play with fewer players. Either way, a pregame meeting between coaches should take place.
