USTA School Tennis
Getting Started
• Enter the Schools Registry!
• You will receive a recognition certificate, School Tennis
Handbook and a USTA/Schools Clipboard all at no cost
• www.usta.com/schools
• Become a USTA School Organization member
• $35 gets your school a 1 year membership as well as a
curriculum kit, a laminated set of station signs and
equipment and Skillastics discounts
• Org members are also eligible for USTA grants
How can the USTA help you . . .
1. Training
– Free school teacher in-services (3 hours)
• Comprehensive hands on training showing how to implement
tennis in a PE curriculum, student management techniques,
station teaching, Tennis Skillastics and extra curricular play
• Suitable for any location (i.e. gym, cafeteria, blacktop)
• In order to host an in-service, school must commit to 3 year
organization membership ($100)
• Host schools receive a $1000 equipment package and Tennis
Skillastics (must have 12 teachers)

2. New curriculum materials
– Developed by USTA with Dr. Robert Pangrazi
– Written by Physical Educators for Physical Educators
– Based on National Association for Sport and Physical Education
standards
– Features 8 progressive easy-to-implement lessons
– Versatile and flexible curriculum can be taught in any school
– Curriculum package contains a complete teaching manual,
instructional DVD, quick-reference pocket guide, and a CD of
animated signs for activity stations and skill drills.

3. Equipment support
– Discounts are available to school districts and after school
providers
– Equipment is age appropriate, easy to use, and ensures a
positive first time experience for all students learning tennis for
the first time

District, Section and Nationals

match play with an emphasis
on skill development, fun,
teamwork and friendly
competition
