UNIT: Soccer/Teamwork
ACTIVITY: Four-Corner Soccer
INDOOR/OUTDOOR ACTIVITY (Grade 1-5)
SKILLS: Teamwork, kicking, catching/stopping the ball
CONCEPT/OBJECTIVE: Teamwork, having fun, developing motor skills (Kicking,
Catching, and Running)
EQUIPMENT: Indoor Soccer Goals (4) or Cones (8), 4 soccer balls (more if you
like), pennies (at least 4 different colors)
ORGANIZATION: The activity can be play on a Basketball Court. Have the students
form at least 4 different groups, with close to 4-6 players on a team (all depending
on how many students are in the classroom). Players will rotate to become the
“Goalie” each time they score a goal and the team who scores the most point wins.
DESCRIPTION:
1. The game start by having all players at their respectful goal with all the
soccer balls in the middle of the court/playing field. (Each team is on their
own.)
2. Within there own group, they must pick one person to be the goalie to start
the game with.
3. Once the whistle is blown or just saying, “Go”, then the game is on.
4. All players are allowed to go after any soccer ball they may choose and can
score at any other goals they like, other then at their own goal.
5. Each time a player score a goal, he/she must rotate to become the “Goalie”.
6. The team who scores the most point wins.
RULES:
1. Players cannot move until the whistle is blown or hear the word “GO”.
2. To score a goal, you can only kick or use your head. (To make it count, it has
to be chest or lower when trying to score a goal)
3. The only player allow to touch the ball with his/her hands is the “Goalie”.
4. If you are not the Goalie and accidently touch the soccer ball with your hands,
the ball is then given to the Goalie you were attempting to score upon. Then
he/she will put it back to play.
VARIATIONS:
Add more Soccer Balls
Assign positions, such as Goalie, Defender, Forwarder (However, must rotate
position after a period of time or after a goal)
Have certain teams only allowed to score at the other teams (Example: Team
Blue can only score at Team Red)
*At anytime, make changes to the team if you feel like it*
