Figure Legend:
Comparison of outcome (modified Rankin scale [mRS] score) at 3 months in patients with very early neurologic improvement (VENI)
and without VENI. The figure shows the outcome at 3 months according to the presence of greater degrees of neurologic
improvement at 1 hour after receiving intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator. Death at 3 months is represented as
an mRS score of 6. VENI was defined as a National Institute of Health Stroke Scale score equal to 0 at the 1-hour mark or an
improvement of 5 or more points compared with baseline.

Receiver operating characteristic curve of the final model for the prediction of favorable outcome at 3 months. The area under the
curve of 0.67 indicates an adequate calibration.

Favorable outcomes (modified Rankin scale [mRS] scores of ≤1) at 3 months in patients with and without very early neurologic
improvement (VENI), stratified by National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) baseline subgroups. On the NIHSS, scores of 0
through 10 indicate mild to moderate stroke (n = 22 patients); scores of 11 through 20, severe stroke (n = 86 patients); and scores of
greater than 20, very severe stroke (n = 12 patients).

Figure Legend:
Favorable outcomes (modified Rankin scale [mRS] scores of ≤1) at 3 months according to major neurologic improvement at 24
hours in patients with and without very early neurologic improvement (VENI). Major neurologic improvement (MNI) at 24 hours was
defined by an 8-point or greater improvement in National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) score or an NIHSS score of 0 or 1
at 24 hours.
