Melbourne Cup weekend Saturday 3 – Tuesday 6 November
Marina YE is the venue for a Spring Carnival social event for motor cruisers over the
coming Melbourne Cup weekend. Festivities will include on and off water events to
celebrate the spirit of the Spring Racing Carnival with picnics on board, waterfront
entertainment, visiting celebrities, luxury cruisers on display, and activities for all boaties
and friends attending.
Motor cruisers entering the event will occupy berths in Marina YE ideally positioned on the
Yarra River in Melbourne’s Docklands with a north facing location to capture the sunshine
and protection from the southerly breeze. At the marina is a great selection of Yarra’s Edge
waterfront bars, restaurants, shops, and a day spa. To enter the event simply complete
the entry form and sent to Marina YE at Yarra’s Edge.

Victoria, a division of Yachting Victoria Incorporated.

General information
To enter the event
The event entry form is attached for completion and credit card payment of the event
entry fee and marina berthing fee, to be mailed or faxed to Marina YE (see form for
details). The marina berths are managed by Marina YE (Mirvac), and entrants in the
Boating Victoria Melbourne Cup Rally will receive priority access to available berths.
To join the Poker Run
On Saturday the weekend activities commence with a classic Poker Run card draw with playing
card pickups at Brighton, Beacon Cove, Williamstown and Pier 35 between 10 and 11 am,
before arriving at Marina YE for berthing and handing in your cards in sealed envelopes.
The draw of each boat’s cards will be revealed during a waterfront presentation at 3 pm, along
with a fifth wild card draw for each boat to complete their hand and determine the winners.
Great prizes will be won so join in the fun – card pickup location details will be sent to all boats
entering the event – just tick the box on the entry form.
Family Fun competition
In conjunction with the Poker Run, a question sheet will ask for identification of 10 items on the
route from Brighton to Docklands, and the highest number of correct answers will receive prizes
at the Poker Run presentation. Great fun for family and friends to check your observation skills.
Spring Carnival Gourmet Barbeque
On Saturday night a gourmet barbeque casual dinner will be held at Iku Izakaya restaurant on
the waterfront at 7.00 pm, with a great selection of dishes including barbequed seafood and
meats cooked on skewers over coals. This will be the main social event of the weekend, and
includes a live band performance so be sure to book on the entry form. Cost is $39 per person
for the 9 courses to be served, drinks not included. Any special dietary requirements can be
accommodated, please advise when sending the entry form.
Rally Picnic
On Sunday all participants will enjoy a picnic lunch aboard their boats – creating a unique
maritime tradition for the Spring Racing Carnival. Boat owners will be challenged to use their
imagination with celebrity chefs, celebrity guests, waiters, anything goes….YE restaurants will
promote platters and picnic hampers.
Dream Boats competition
A “Fashions on the water” competition will choose the most elegant, stylish and functional
Dream Boats in a number of boat age and length categories. All boats in the marina will be
reviewed on Sunday by a team of celebrity judges for announcement of the winners at 3 pm
Marina YE at Yarra’s Edge
The only CBD marina on the Yarra, your VIP reception includes a welcome pack with toiletries
and towels on arrival, and access to a visitor lounge, bathrooms and laundry. Marina facilities
include 6 restaurants, bars and cafes, a day spa, and a licensed supermarket. The location is an
easy 10 minute walk to Crown and a little further to shops and restaurants at Southbank.
