WEW 25 June 2012
Hi Ladies
The playing card read high triple digits (hmm… room for improvement, she thought) “How was
your game today? ‘ he asked, ‘I hit the ball a lot better…’ she proudly announced. ‘Hmm.. so why
so many shots???’ Good question. A quick mental check .. Driving accuracy? Limited... Holes in
regulation? Err.. None. Sand saves? OMG None. Average putts per round. Don’t tell
Rachel. Overall Answer Not good. So, what to do? ... Panic? ... Give up? Or option C.. Practice,
rock up next week and try again. Option C.
And here are a few benefiting from Option C at today’s competitions - NTP 5th: 0-20 Ena
Robertson, 21+ Mariko Watanabe. 11th: 0-20 Ena Robertson (again). Two’s: Sinead Keaney
16th. Chip n' dip to Margaret Wright and Wendy Shuttleworth. Winner of the random draw was
Keryn Jones. Latest inductees to the Double Digits club: Sinead Keaney and Robyn
Grayson. Well done ladies
Kaimahi & Stevens Cup matches
Thank you to those that have played or organised their matches. Your efforts are much
appreciated. Progressing to the next round, is Ena Robertson and Cathy Baloghy. The following
matches need to be played THIS weekend to ensure the games are completed within the
scheduled timeframes.
Kaimahi Cup 0 – 20: Aseri Meikle vs Susan Macken and Marilyn Storey vs Mariko Watanabe.
Stevens Cup 21+: Phyl Meti vs Janet Chambers. Ivy Woon vs Sulochana Singh. Sue Simpson
vs Georgina Anderson. Monica Wang vs Wendy Shuttleworth.
The matches for both Cups, need to be played by 30 June, 29 July, 28 August and the final by 30
September 2012.
Pennants
The ladies have spoken and it appears there will be sufficient players again for two 18 hole
Weekend Matchplay teams. Awesome!. The captains for 2013 are Sinead Keaney and Aseri
Meikle. Names are also sought for Betty Faesen, A Pennants and B Pennants. If you’re interested
in representing our Club next year, please add your name to the list at the Club
house. Alternatively, send me an email.
LGU
I’ve been assured that LGU will be handicap order next time. Today’s standout player was Tiffany
Lupton with a nett 71 winning the Silver on a count back from Louise Hubert. Elsie Walter had
74, which was good, but it paled in comparison to the eventual Bronze winner Gae McCullagh with
64. Well done ladies.
James Trophy – specifically for 30+ handicappers – shared competition. 1st round of 3. The 1st
round leader with a nett 64 is Gae McCullagh. Elsie Walter, Diane Warneford and Sue Child will
need the next two rounds in order to get close. Watch this space for the progress.
Coming up....
Ladies Super Scramble – this weekend for $15. Add your name to the list at the pro-shop on
Saturday. .
Two tickets to the Warriors
The game is THIS Sunday 1 July @ Mt Smart Stadium, 4.00pm. If you’re interested AND available
to go. Correctly select the emblem of the team the Warriors will be playing and send that answer
to me.
The first correct response I receive will win the tickets. A huge thankyou to the Akarana
Management for ‘finding’ these tickets 
Sunday Golf
The 3 tee spots have been moved to an earlier time: it’s a two tee start to get more players
through in the available light and to better utilise the spaces in the hope of attracting more green
fee players.
Enjoy your week and we’ll see you on the tee
