Ringmaster briefing Attachments: Script show Show presentation One-pager GITR goals Dear Ringmaster, Get in the most fun and engaging podium for startups to make valuable connections. During the Get in the Ring live battles you will contribute in making the literal podium fun and engaging. Not an easy task, but we are confident that you can manage it! General information We would like to welcome you at [LOCATION] on [ARRIVAL TIME] to walk through the script with you and conduct a final rehearsal before the show starts. Dress code You are the ringmaster, the center of attention, you lead the show in the spotlights. Someone in that position should be recognizable, differentiate yourself from the startups and Champion jury members, but wear something that fits your personality and performance. A black or white tie is often weared by ringmasters around the globe. Program After your arrival at the location we will quickly go through the script of the show. Also we will do an extensive rehearsal to prepare not only you but also the startups, Champion jury members and the technical crew. We will go through the script together as well during the event day itself, but please take a look already to prepare yourself. To stick to the script and help you in performing on stage we will provide you with cue cards. He or she will pass the mic to the audience if needed, and pass on messages to you if needed. Tips & Tricks A show becomes easily too slow to entertain the audience, keep an eye on the speed during the show! Champions tend to tell a lot and take a lot of time. Make sure they don’t slow down the show. The show has to be fun as well, don’t hesitate to use humor during the show You are in charge, keep the battles tight and fast. Because you are in the spotlight it is a good thing to be present at the networking after the show as well Elements of the show In this section you can find all the elements in the show Intro of Get in the Ring Once you are on stage you need to introduce Get in the Ring. The introduction of a Get in the Ring event always consists of: Showing the official introduction movie. An explanation of the how the Battles work. Attached is the presentation of the live battles. Explain our main goals. Find our one-pager on the Get in the Ring goals attached The Voice During the show there will be a voice to announce the start of the show, welcome you as ringmaster and announce the networking at the end of the show. This is an audio file that will be played by the technical crew. Introduction Champions When the Champions come on stage and take their seats you will announce who they are and ask each Champion one or two (follow-up) questions by the of about 20 sec. to introduce who they are. We will provide you with some potential questions before the show starts. Battles The battles consist all of 5 rounds in which the startups pitch alternately. The order doesn’t necessarily need to be AB-AB-AB but also can be we AB-BA-AB. It’s up to you which startup starts each round. There is an introduction and 5 battles rounds per startup onstage: 1 min. – Introduction 30 sec. – Team 30 sec. – Achievements 30 sec. – Business Model & Market 30 sec. – Financials & Proposition 30 sec. – Freestyle Q&A by Champions After the rounds by the startups the Champions get to ask questions. The following rules are there keep it interesting for the audience: Discussion between Champions is encouraged Only address one startup per question 8 min. maximum for Q&A Audience voting / advice The audience vote is an advice to the Champions to avoid ‘home advantage’ in the voting. The vote will be done by holding up different colors to support one of the startups. The Ringmaster will conclude on the audience vote towards the Champions. Q&A Audience Rules When Champions are deciding there is room for questions from the audience. The following rules apply to keep it interesting for the audience: Only address one startup per question Maximum of 3 questions The hand mic will be used Decision of Champions rules After the audience vote the Champions will make a decision about the winning startup of each battle. The following rules apply to keep it interesting for the audience: No discussion between Champions allowed One-by-one each Champions announces their vote publicly 2 Champions can explain their choice per battle, Ringmaster will ask for this explanation If the winner is known before all Champions have announced their vote the last vote(s) come after announcing the winner Announcing winner When the winner of a battle is being announced the Ringmaster will hold one hand of each contestant standing next to him/her and only raise the hand of the winner to show the audience who won. Award moment after battles Before the winner is announced for the last battle the following applies: The other winners join in the Ring Credits will be provided to all involved parties. The prize(s) will be mentioned including the Global Final The networking and after party will be mentioned Then the final battle winner will be announced All winners receive their cheque for the global final and other prizes. These will be brought on stage by organisation. The Ringmaster and the voice will end the battle part of the event Credits Give everyone involved in making the event a success credits. To do so, you will ask the organizer OR someone present from Get in the Ring Global team to say a word of thank to everyone involved. Questions?
