20th August 2012
Newsletter No 3
Dear Players and Parents,
A big weekend of action for the club and academy which saw our first and reserve teams kick off
their competitive season with games against Bangor City as well as our under 12 and 14 sides in
action against FC Spartans.
Fixtures updated for under 19/reserves and first team for 2012/2013 season
All fixtures for the Welsh Premier, Welsh Premier Youth League and Clwyd Reserve Premier
League division have now been updated onto the site.
A big season for our under 19/reserve side with 22 reserve league games and 24 Welsh Premier
youth league games.
The reserve league fixtures are published on a monthly basis and when we receive them for
October onwards we will update immediately when we receive.
The under 19 Welsh Premier youth league will see our side play Sunday afternoons and the whole
fixture list for the season has been updated.
Our senior sides entire Welsh Premier programme leading up to January before the league splits
into two has also been updated.
This will allow all academy players and parents to keep up to date with the first teams up and
coming fixtures which we hope to see as many supporters at to show their support for the first
team.
We have also updated any fixtures we have already for all age groups. As we have stated we have
lots more fixtures to add with our aim of all teams playing every week.

Unfortunately since the revised dates our 11 and 13s are unavailable and the 15s competition has
been postponed.
The revised competition which was due to take place last month is taking place this Saturday
morning at Stone Dominoes Football Club.
All players from the under 12 and 14 sides are asked to arrive for no later than 8:45 in full
training kit.
Players will be given the home kit when they arrive to wear.
Below is the address of the venue:
Stoke City Summer Tournament 2012
Venue: Stone Dominoes FC, Yarnfield Lane Yarnfield Stone ST15 0NF
Our under 12s are taking part in a 6 a side tournament with two teams entered with our under 14s
in 11 a side action.
We wish both teams the best of luck in the event.
Another great week 3 of academy camps which saw our under 12s enjoy two fantastic training days.
Under 12s put through there paces in preparations for new 2012-2013 season.
Like the previous two camps the under 12 players followed a programme focused on the
following areas:
Making it Count – (Finishing)
Combining to Attack – (Passing)
Winning the Battle – (Defending)
NIKE SPARQ training – (agility, speed etc)
Dominating the 1v1 – (individual skill)
As well as the sessions above all players also took part in three skills tests which focused on
passing, control and dribbling.
All players gained scores over these three tests based on how well they completed the task.

These three tests have been put together and have a handicap on them which will allow the
younger and older players in the academy to be tested against one another.
A big congratulation to the skills school winner which was won by:
Coel Lambert who scored an impressive 520 points over the three tests. The most of any academy
player to date.
All training for the week was focused on the Manchester United 4v4 methods which saw all
players finish sessions with this format of games, with different team and individual challenges
through out.
All players were fantastic through out the two day camp which was intense, and really worked all
the players hard.
2 Different trophies were given out over the week for a Player of the Day award.
The awards were given out based on how well the player handled the sessions in the day both
from the technical and skill side as well as when putting it into action in the 4v4 situation.
As well as this key factors such as the players attitude and discipline over the day as well as
behavior when off the pitch as well as on it.
A big well done to Luke Jones and Charlie Roberts who won these awards.
The two day camp ended on Thursday afternoon when the players took part in a 4v4 competition
which saw them all play in 9 different games where they were always placed with different
players both for and against.
The competition was based on the individual with 10 points for the win, 5 for a draw and extra
points given out by coaches if great individual flare was shown or a top quality team goal.
The win of the fantastic two hour competition was won by:
Lewis Davey who gained a superb 48 points.
A fantastic week for all concerned and we look forward to next week’s three day camp which will
see our under 9s/10s sides come to Dock Road.
We have a limit of 16 players so book your place early if interested.
The training camp will run from Tuesday to Thursday at Dock Road from 10:00-15:00 for just
£30 for the three days.

Under 12, 14 and 19s have good results this week but first team fall to late Bangor City winner.
A good weekend of games saw 2 games against FC Spartans and 2 against Bangor City.
The weekend of games began on Friday evening when our under 12 and 14 sides played host to
local Wirral based teams FC Spartans.
The link was made following first team goalkeeper John Rushton’s work coaching the local
teams goalkeepers in his home town area.
Our under 12s who had been in all last week on their academy camp put there extra training into
good practice winning there game by five goals to nil.
Max Moore grabbed himself two goals as well as man of the match with a very strong
performance with Lewis Hughes also grabbing a brace and a single from Coel Lambert.
Our under 14s had a tougher game than the 12s but still came away with a three one victory with
two great free kick goals from Iwan Rogers and Andrew Ely and a well taken headed goal from
Danny Chambers.
Man of the match went to Owen Edwards who was outstanding in the centre of defence in only
his second game for the academy.
Following these academy games our first team were in action away to Bangor City.

A great game of football saw the first team fall to an early Chris Simm goal before Dean Canning
grabbed an equalizer just before half time.
A bumper crowd of just under 900 were in attendance and Nomads nearly grabbed a winner late
on in the second half when Canning’s effort came crashing off the bar.
But in injury time disaster struck when a penalty was awarded to Bangor City after a handball
from Alan Hooley which was converted by Bangor’s Dave Morley to give them the win.
Gutting for all concerned but lots of positives to take into the next game at home to Port Talbot
Town next Saturday at the Deeside Stadium 14:30 kick off.
The final game of the weekend was the 19s who kicked off there reserve league campaign with a
six nil victory over Bangor City reserves.
A game which Nomads dominated saw a hat trick from Aled Reece as well as singles from Josh
Williams, Rhys Healey and 16 year old Aron Davies.
Full match reports and player statistics have been updated from the first team and 19s games as
well as a highlights video from the first team game with Bangor City.

The club will be doing everything it possibly can do to stay in the Welsh Premier which we all
know has a massive effect on the academy with regard to extra funding.
A regular support will be huge for the club and we hope to see as many academy players, parents,
friends and family at as many home and away games as possibly over the season.

All players from under 11-19 are reminded the first £40 payment of the season is needed this
evening Monday 20th August.
