One more time Meritalia is attending the 53rd edition of the Salone Internazionale del Mobile, confirming a winning strategy that levers on the concept of partnership. Meritalia’s philosophy has always focused on creating synergies with the most important names in the Italian and international architectural and design scene. Since the very beginning, the company’s added value has been the capacity of understanding how an iconic brand of the “Made in Italy” needs to combine Tradition with Innovation. It doesn’t come as a surprise this was the mark Giulio Meroni, Meritalia’s founder and president until 2013, wanted to leave on his company. Also Francesca Meroni, Meritalia’s PR&Communications Manager, has no doubts: “We have always been recognized as a company that makes of innovation and research some of its most important features. Innovation distinguishes us in terms of our partnerships. As a matter of fact, over the years we have embraced a philosophy that implies the development of synergies not stricly with designers and architects, but also with people that have interesting projects in mind and innovative ideas to offer to the market”. There is an increasing number of emerging designers who collaborate with Meritalia and who, over the last years, have been able to make a name amongst the design sector’s public thanks to their skills and their innovative ideas. A proverbial sense of “crazy genius” the company knew how to interpret by creating refined furniture in the most diverse shapes ranging from more winding profiles to rigid and clear cuts. The perfect combination that offers a solid and determined response to the requests of an ever more demanding consumer, who wishes to be surprised. Lots of new products are going to be presented during the upcoming design week. As always, at Pavillon 5 of the Rho fair, Meritalia is welcoming visitor at Stand C15 D08. The successful partnership between the company from Mariano Comense and the renewed and widely awarded architect Mario Bellini, who has designed for Meritalia two unique products this year, continues. Opera is table with a solid wood structure interlaced below a glass surface. It is available in different dimensions and colors, which, due to the interlacement of its structure, offer a chromatic scale that varies depending on the viewer’s perspective. Not less important is Freud, a sectional sofa, structured with a peculiar mechanism that allows almost limitless possibilities for adjusting the back, making possible to adapt the same product to the most diverse situations, formal yet relaxing and informal. This year Meritalia presents two products, which have been inspired by some previous projects. That’s the case of Lierna, a chair created from a 1961 project by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni and taken up by the company in partnership with the Castiglioni Foundation. The architects referred to it as: "A chair specifically designed to go with a dining table. Therefore, the back is fairly high in order to protect the table companions’ shoulders, it’s narrow in order to aid the moves of whom is serving the meal and it well adapts to the fine posture of whom is sitting.”. The second project is Newcastle, a sofa presented in 2013 in partnership with Giulio Iacchetti that, due to the positive feedback received during the first year of production, is now offered with a corner option and an armchair. In addition to the Duraform™ cover, which offers high performances in terms of durability and usability, Meritalia proposes a new cover in linen and cotton fabric that makes the product extremely up-to-date and less technical. In order to conclude with an “unconventional touch”, amongst Meritalia’s new products and solid partnerships there is Eye-Eye, a mirror designed by Lapo Elkann. Meritalia decided to add to its new collection a project that comes from the free spirit of its designer: “When I think about a new project I always get inspired by those things I care about most, I feel a bound with, I am passionate about. The first time I approached home decoration, for instance, I thought about the motors’ universe. This time we chose, with Meritalia, the glasses, something that has always been one of my passions. I remember that, since I was a kid, I have always loved looking, touching and trying on any kind of glasses, I was fascinated and in love with them. It’s from this love that Italia Independent was born. At Salone Internazionale del Mobile of Milan – the most important showcase of world design - I am delighted to present a mirror that bases on Italia Independent’s most representative model of glasses, its bestseller: the 090:” April 2014 MERITALIA SPA – press office: francesca meroni [email protected] – tel 031-743100
