Port Hawkesbury Parks & Recreation, along with the Port Hawkesbury Tourism Department, is proud
to present this year’s installment of the Granville Green Concert Series. Enjoy a lineup of artists and
performers from across the country and from the local area, with the first evening of the concert being
headlined by The Barra MacNeils, a Cape Breton favorite. Beginning at 7:00 PM, the concert will take
place outdoors overlooking the beautiful Straight of Canso. Come join us for this free outdoor concert
this Sunday for an evening spent outdoors with great music.

Ordinary isn’t on deck this summer as the Rendezvous 2017- Tall Ships Regatta makes its first stop
of the tour at the Port Hawkesbury Waterfront from June 30th to July 2nd. These remarkable ships
come from all over the world, and cover over 7000 nautical miles in their epic journey across the
Atlantic Ocean. Join the sailors for a guided tour of the vessels, and enjoy the concerts, kids’
activities, aboriginal customs and ceremonies, as well as some great food.

The town of Louisbourg will be hosting an afternoon full of food and activities for the whole family this
Canada Day, in honour of the 150th birthday of our country. Come down to the S&L Railway Station
from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM to join the fun. Kicking things off will be the raising of the Canadian flag and
the singing of the national anthem, with pony rides, face painting and children’s games to follow.
Enjoy a free barbeque and birthday cake, all complete with live music by local artists.

Isle Madame is celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday, and they have a big celebration planned for our
country’s big day. The fun starts at 2:00 PM, with the raising of the Canadian flag and singing of “Oh
Canada”, followed by children’s activities and live entertainment. At 2:30, a game of bingo will be
held, followed by a magic show at 3:00 PM performed by Paul`s Magic & Illusion. At 4:00 PM,
Canada Day birthday cake will be served, followed by a fireworks display at dusk. Be sure to attend
this Canada Day festival and celebrate Canada`s big birthday with the locals at Lenoir Landing this
Saturday.

The Inverness County Centre for the Arts is proud to present the opening of their annual Hands Dancing exhibit, an art
show in which members of the Inverness County Centre for the Arts present their one of a kind artwork and showcase
their creative talent. Art work of all sorts is to be featured, with over 50 artists presenting at least one unique piece. On
top of getting to view their intricate art work, you’ll also get the chance to talk to the various artists and discuss their
works. Following the exhibit opening, an auction will be held, with items from local businesses as well as artwork from
the artists participating in the exhibit. Don’t miss this opportunity to view these impressive works of art and even the
chance to bring home a unique piece of artwork created right here on the island.

Celebrating the story of a 40 year long volunteer effort to preserve and revive Scottish traditions in Cape Breton, the
Strathspey Performing Arts Centre is proud to present Return of the Vanishing Cape Breton Fiddler. Celebrating the
release of a 1972 televised documentary detailing how the Scottish music and tradition of Cape Breton was fading
away, this documentary is arguably what has kept our Scottish traditions and heritage alive and going stronger than
ever. Enjoy a performance by the Cape Breton Fiddle Association, a question and answer period with Ron MacInnis,
and excerpts from the brand new documentary.

Come down to the Inverness County Centre for the Arts to view their Sightlines: Exploring Visual Art exhibit. Featuring

KitchenFest! 2017 will be holding a square dance at the West Mabou Village hall, as part of their events set for this
year’s schedule. Jump in on the action, and discover how much fun this big part of Cape Breton nightlife really is! It’s a
