Setting up iPhone (iOS6) to access UL StaffExchange Email The set-up and maintance of your iPhone is your responsibility. This document initially covers the setting up of your UL email, assuming you have the basic setup of the iPhone done. It then goes on to cover setting up the Passcode and this is important to give your data on the iPhone protection from being read if the iPhone is lost or stolen. The data is encrypted and whereas there is almost no problem seeing the data if there is no Passcode, it would take years with a strong Passcode set. Please also read the warning at the beginning of the Passcode section. A more comprehensive document is available, including the Basic setup if you require it. Also the Passcode should be strong. At least 6 characters of at least three of the four types, Upper Case, Lower Case, Numerals, Symbols. Doing this changes the time to crack the Simple Passcode from 7min, for four digit, to years for the six character strong version. The Passcode combined with a built in Key is also used for encrypting the data stored on the iPhone, so, even if someone gets to read the memory in the iPhone the data is encrypted and so unreadable. There is a warning you need to take note of. If for any reason you can not put in the Passcode; there is no way for us to recover your data from the iPhone itself. You will have to regularly back it up using iTunes, or the iCloud. Then when the iPhone is rebuilt; iOS6 overwritten and data automatically erased, it will be back to the state it was in when first purchased, and can be set up as normal, and the data restored from iTunes or the iCloud.
