This competition is open to high school students in the Lake Washington School District who
own and operate their own business. Businesses that are co-owned by parents/and or other
adults do not qualify. Please submit a typed application. Application is due January 6, 2017.

Introductory Elements

Create a Title Page and attach (5 points)
Include name of business, name of student(s), titles of students in regards to the
business, high school in which student(s) attend, start date of business, email
address and phone number
II.
Description of Business and Product
 Please describe your business and the product you plan to sell (5 points)
III.
Evaluation of Market Opportunity (5 points)
a. What are the market trends of your business? What do people like to buy?
b. Who are your customers?
c. Who is your competition?
d. Why is your product different? Why do people buy from you?
e. What are the risks? How could you lose money?
f. What are your goals for sale?

a. How is this service or product produced and/or sold?
b. Please state if this is a for profit or nonprofit business.
V.
Sales and Marketing Strategy (5 points)
a. Product—Why is this product needed?
b. Price—How much do you charge for your product and why?
c. Promotion— How is your marketing geared toward your target
audience/consumer?
d. Place—Where is this product sold
