Pride Pacific Alumni Club Meeting Notes – December 8, 2008 Participants: Eric Dingler, Heather Dooley, Norm Allen, Nolan Yaws, Steve Jacobson, Kathy Hunter, Corrie Martin, Grant Reeder, Jim Wolfe Nolan Yaws ’09 has agreed to join the steering committee. Nolan is a senior who is planning to attend graduate school in the field of student life administration. The committee has voted to formally name the Club the “Pride Pacific Alumni Club” (or Pride PAC). Final Club Mission Statement The mission of the Pride Pacific Alumni Club is to develop an alumni network that supports current students and improves the campus climate for future generations by advocating on behalf of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer issues. The Club also ensures that all LGBTQ and allied alumni have a meaningful connection to Pacific and an organized means by which to promote the University's commitment to an inclusive and respectful community. Jim Wolfe is relocating from San Diego to San Antonio, Texas and will carry forward our mission there. We’re sorry to lose you from Calif. Jim, but we’re glad to have a contact in beautiful San Antonio (so close to Austin! ) The committee discussed creating a long-term plan to deliver on our mission, increase visibility and build our network. Please review (and pursue) the following action items: Action Items 1. System coding for alumni form old Gay/Straight Alliance and recent grads 2. Talk with Judy Chamber to solicit names. Follow up and reach out to those identified. 3. Facebook set-up and have link to our webpage 4. Facebook all get on and link 5. Create best of bunch webpage for Price Pacific Alumni Club 6. Communicate awareness of club through existing alumni communication Corrie Steve Becca All Heather Corrie and Steve and Kathy (meeting with Marketing dept.’s Patrick Giblin!) vehicles -Jan Magazine: Blurb -March Magazine: Write-up & Pictures -E-Newsletter: Blub/WriteUP 7. Draft press release and send to appropriate outlets Corrie -Gay Rags (San Diego, Phoenix, LA, SF, Sacramento, Seattle, Portland for starters) -Stockton/SF/Sacramento Newspapers 8. Communicate with Alumni clubs to Corrie figure out how to best communicate to their members or identify people -Draft email leveraging press release Corrie -Email to all club chairs Corrie -Email to McGeorge chairs Eric/Heather -Dental school Eric/Heather -Look at upcoming calendar of events and see if PPAC members can attend Corrie 9. Faculty/Deans/Admin Reach out -Version of press release on Faculty/Staff GLBT List Serv -Host faculty meeting in conjunction with some event on campus where some PPAC members present -Host Staff Advisory Council meeting on campus -Deans follow-up 10. Draft communications to be sent out to those we identify outlining our purpose, needs, looking for, etc. Eric/Corrie – have proposed events to participate in for next PPAC call in Jan Steve Steve Norm/Grant and Corrie Steve TBD 11. Alumni Weekend Reception Corrie/Eric/Heather (plan by Feb) -Plan event for biggest visibility -Communicate to PPAC names so get as many there as possible 13.
