Create a Country- Students work in small groups to create their own
imaginary country. The leader or group can decide on required elements of
each map, then have a set amount of time to work on them before sharing
them with the rest of the group.
Pac Man- On a gym court, designate one person to be It. This game works
the same as regular tag, but all players can only run on the lines.
Hands on ActivityBingo- Instructions included with game.
Hot Lava Monster- The floor or ground is lava, and no one other than the
student designated the monster are allowed to touch it. The goal of the
monster is to tag the other players. When a player is tagged they become a
monster too!
Simple Step Pyramid-
Materials:
 newspaper
 1-pound box of sugar cubes per child/team
 heavy paper plate
 pencils
 glue
 small paintbrushes
Directions:
1. Spread newspapers out over work surface.
2. Arrange 36 sugar cubes on plate (6x6) into a square on top of the
paper plate.
3. Carefully outline the square of sugar cubes with a pencil, then remove
the sugar cubes.
4. Drizzle white glue within the penciled square using a paintbrush to
spread the glue thinly and evenly within the square.
5. Starting at one corner, replace the cubes into the square.
6. Drizzle more glue over the sugar cubes and brush it over the inner 16
cubes.
7. Arrange 25 sugar cubes over the glue (5x5).
8. Brush the 25 cubes with another thin layer of glue.
9. Arrange 16 cubes on top (4x4), repeat this process with 9 cubes
(3x3), and 4 (2x2), and 1.
Bounce the BallChopstick Relay- Divide students into teams and have them line up behind
a starting line. Place an empty bowl in front of each time and another a
designated distance away with one cotton ball for each team member in the
bowl. Each student should be given a pair of chopsticks, making sure that
each student knows how to use them. When it is time to begin, one student
from each team runs to the other end and picks up a cotton ball using their
chopstick, running to their team and placing it in that bowl. The first team to
have all of their cotton balls in the originally empty bowl wins!
Friendship SticksMaterials:
 square wooden chopsticks (or popsicle sticks)
 wire snips or sturdy scissors
 acrylic paint, 6 colors
 cotton swabs (or paintbrushes)
 fine point permanent marker
 cord or string
Directions:
1. Cut a 3-inch-long section from a chopstick. Use a cotton swab or
paintbrush to paint 6 different color stripes around the stick (one color
for each letter in the word friend).
2. After the paint has dried, write a message to another friend on the
stick using a permanent marker. Tie a string or cord around so it can
be worn as a necklace and give it to a friend.
Telephone- Everyone sits in a line, and the first person whispers something
in the ear of the student next to them. The message continues down the line
until the very last player announces the message that they heard to the
entire group.
Balloon Frantic- Give each student three or more balloons, each one
should be blown up and tied off. Tell the group that when you say go, all
balloons should be kept in the air at once. Balloons can only touch people,
and they may not be held, tied to anyone, or stuffed in clothing. Once
balloons begin to hit the ground, allow the group to strategize together and
then retry.
Construction Paper Houses- Students can use construction paper to build
their own house. They can be as creative with the process as they like, even
creating a 3D house. They can also use any art supplies available to
decorate their home.
Blob Tag- One student is assigned or volunteers as It, other students want
to avoid them. When students are tagged they must link with whoever
tagged them to form the Blob. If a blob reaches 6 people, they can split into
groups of three. The last person to be tagged becomes It for the next round.
Bus Stop- Create an imaginary bus by laying two ropes parallel to each
other on the ground, about 10-15 feet apart. Ask the group to stand
between the ropes and face you. The leader is the bus driver, standing at
the front of the group and facing them. The bus driver calls out word pairs
(cat/dog, shark/dolphin, day/night, run/walk, read/TV, sun/rain) and points
to one side or the other of the ‘bus’. Students get off the bus by stepping out
of the ropes, then walk back on to the side of the bus they associate most
with (based on word or statement).
Paper Plate Aerobics- Each player gets two paper plates which they keep
under each foot throughout the activity. The leader calls out different
activities that students must work on until the next activity is called.
Examples are (cross-country ski, skate, lunges, push-ups, bear walk).
People Poems- (assuming this is the same as name poems??) Students
build a poem using the initials of their name as the first letter of each line
(or another word/person’s name).
