This work focuses on the typical difference between confusable
words:
 “Work” and “job”
 “Do” and “make”
There are also exercises available to help the learners to practise

E.g. She has a job as a waitress

E.g. It is not his job to tell us what we can and can't do.
The teacher asks the student to do the housework.

 Sth that requires physical or mental effort that you do to achieve sth

 (Works) The act of building or repairing sth

 (works) (in a compound noun) a factory

 To perform an action, activity or job.

 To be enough or suitable
E.g. If I haven’t got a pen, a pencil will do.
 To provide a service
E.g. Do you do eye tests here?
 To study sth or find the answer to sth.
E.g. I can’t do the answer 3.
 To travel a certain distance or at a certain speed.
E.g. I normally do about 5 miles when I go running
 To have a particular effect.
E.g. The storm did a lot of damage

“Make”
 To produce or create sth
E.g. This model is made of steel.
 (used with nouns) to perform a certain action.
E.g. to make a hole
to make a movie
to make progress
 To cause a particular feeling.
E.g. The film makes me cry.
 To force sb/sth to do sth
E.g. You can not make her come with us if she does not want.
 Used with money, number and time.
E.g. to make a lot of money
 To make sb/sth become sth; to have the right qualities to become sth.
E.g. You can borrow some money this time, but do not make a habit of this.
 To manage to reach a place or go somewhere.
E.g. I can’t make the meeting next week.
