Whitehorse Women's Hockey Association 2016/2017 League Information
The season runs from October 4, 2016 to March 18, 2017, including playoffs. The league consists of beginner to advanced players, 18 years and older. This is a ‘recreational’ league which means body checking is not allowed, but body contact should be expected. Players and referees are to be treated with respect at all times. Full Canadian Safety Association approved hockey equipment is required. Your gear must fit you. Players must wear neck guards, helmets, gloves, as well as shin, elbow, shoulder and pelvic protectors. Teams will have twelve to fifteen players. Seven players and a goalie must be present or the game is forfeited. Each team will play 2 games per week based on 6 teams. Games will start on time, be timed, and refereed. League policies can be viewed at http://www.whitehorsewomenshockey.com. No Split Seasons and Wait List Split seasons are not available. Individual players are welcome to register to play a portion of the season but must pay the full league fee. Alternatively, a player can put themselves on the wait list for spots potentially available later in the season. Fees for players on the wait list will be prorated to the start date for the player. Please email [email protected] to have your name added to the wait list. The jersey must be returned no later than April 18, 2017 or the deposit is forfeit. Goalies that pay a reduced league fee can only play the position of goalie. Refund Policy WWHA understands that there are many reasons you might not be able to finish the hockey season: people move, lives change, they get pregnant, they have bad breakups, etc. We know. But, league fees are based on a precarious calculation of ice time costs divided by the possible number of players. We will give refunds only in certain circumstances (medical reasons like illness, injury or pregnancy). Refund decisions are retroactive to the date when you notified us by email. It’s a bit hard‐ass, but attempts to be fair to everyone. For more details, see the WWHA refund policy posted on www.whitehorsewomenshockey.com.
