A - This is illegal! - Headphones are not appropriate equipment for the game of basketball. • NFHS Rule Book 3-5-1: The referee shall not permit any team member to wear equipment or apparel which, in his/her judgment, is dangerous or confusing to other players or is not appropriate. • NFHS Rule Book 3-5-4-E: Head decorations and headwear, except those specified above (i.e. - headbands), are prohibited. • NFHS Case Book 3.5 Player Equipment - Situation A - Ruling - While this situation references jewelry, you can substitute "decorative necklace" with "head phones" and the ruling is the same. Helping Your Partner Summary 1. Know your limits. 2. Be cautious. This should not be a frequent occurrence. 3. Do not overrule – offer info for partner to consider. 4.
