Competition Invitation - North American Chen`s Taichi Association

2017 “Light of Taichi” International Wushu Elite Competition
Invitation
Wushu is a precious treasure of Chinese culture. It is one of the most popular sports in the world. So
far, Taichi alone is widely practiced in more than 150 countries and territories in the world and there are
conservatively estimated 200 million Taichi practitioners in the world. Official Taichi institutes or
associations have established in almost a hundred countries and territories. There are even more
practitioners under the whole umbrella of Wushu!
Canada is a country that promotes multi-culturalism. There are many ethnic groups and cultures
flourish in Canada. Among these groups, there is the hardworking Chinese group. We have brought out
unique Chinese culture to this country. Chinese wushu especially Taichi has become a well-known and
well-liked sport.
This completion will be a grand Chinese martial arts event for Toronto and even for Canada. It was
planned to be held on the landmark Toronto Centre Island at the 29th Toronto International Dragon Boat
Race Festival. As the Centre Island is closed due to flooding, we are moving the competition to Newmarket,
Ontario. The address is: 415 Pickering Crescent, Newmarket, ON L3Y 8G8.
This completion will also show off the beauty of Canada and her cultures. Joining Taichi and the
Dragon Boat Race together in North America is the highlight of this competition. 2017 is also Canada’s
150th anniversary. The “Light of Taichi” will celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday in its unique way. We hope
to gather Wushu enthusiasts from all over the world. We will gather in Canada, exchange our Wushu
practice experience. We hope to bring Wushu as the sport of the century to Canada and to the whole world.
The committee of the 2017 “Light of Taichi” International Wushu Elite Competition sincerely invites
all Wushu practitioners from all over the world to be part of this competition.
